I absolutely am a sucker for anything with dragons.
Thanks to a few Tumblr posts that brought this to my attention because it was too adorable 🥰

I loved the illustrations and the simple and heartwarming message. Plus baked goods are truly amazing!

mariaku21 @Birdsong28 I have! I placed a hold for it with my library ❤️ 1w

I love The Bakery Dragon!
Ember is too little to scare people to get their gold, but when circumstances bring the baker and Ember together, he finds that golden bread can be a treasure too.
I thought he looked adorable washing his hands in bubbles. 🥰🐉

I started reading this to the students and they really love Ember. Everyone wants a dragon now. And bread. This book will make you hungry.

TheBookHippie Oh this looks like a great read a loud. 3mo
mandarchy @TheBookHippie it really is, but it's also a seek and find, the illustrations are full of details. 3mo

There is a greater than 100% chance that I read this book purely for the cute dragon on the cover. Is it for the childrens? Yes. Still worth it.

Nominated for the 2026 Washington Children's Choice Picture Book Award, The Bakery Dragon delivers the simple moral that working for gold is better than stealing. Kids will love the detailed illustrations. I plan to practice reading for details using a short list of questions. #wsccpba

Fair warning: If you were severely bullied in school, skip this one. While high school for me was not horrible, middle school was trauma. Listening to this installment of the Cupcake Bakery mystery series was a bit of a trigger, especially the first two chapters. Mel is tricked into agreeing to cater her high school reunion by her best friend Angie. Yes, tricked. And yes, her best friend, who knew everything Mel went through in high school…⬇️⬇️⬇️

Librarybelle ⬆️⬆️⬆️ …basically called her chicken for not wanting to cater the event. It angered me so much—best friends should know that to force someone into a traumatic situation is not healthy, much less trick them into it. There is a lot of cruelty in this edition, as Mel meets up again with all of her bullies, and one is found murdered. Of course, everyone suspects Mel, since the bully victim just “cannot take” the taunts and abuse. Ugh! Anyhow, the ⬇️⬇️ 5mo
Librarybelle ⬆️⬆️⬆️ the mystery itself is clever and has some good twists to it. But, the whole bully thing just left a bad taste in my mouth. If you‘ve ever been a target, you understand. So-so listen for me, but a kudos to me for listening to the whole thing and not throwing my phone across the room! If you do pick it up, avoid the first two chapters. They‘re the worst in the book. 5mo
Luke-XVX Not nice memories to relive, I hope you‘re ok 5mo
DaveGreen7777 Sorry to hear you were bullied in school, Jess! ☹️ You are so sweet and kind, it‘s hard to fathom why anyone would treat you like that. I think some bullies envy people they see who are kinder than them, and rather than work on bettering themselves, they lash out at others instead! 5mo
Librarybelle @Luke-XVX @DaveGreen7777 Thank you for your kindness! I am okay. ❤️ 5mo
