#SchoolSpirit
A favorite school #FieldTrip for me was going to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Oregon. We got to stay overnight, visit the town & we saw two plays, one was Hamlet & the other I do not remember (it was a non-Shakespeare offering).
Because of this cozy mystery series, set in a bakeshop/cafe in Ashland, I‘d like to go back for an adult field trip someday!
The first book in a new series set at a bakery/coffeehouse in the upper NW (#SeriesLove2024). This was a fun cozy mystery about Jules, who returns home after learning her husband had been keeping a secret from her. It was fun and I look forward to reading more in the series.
#IdiomInsight
The idiom #PieceOfCake describes something easily accomplished. It‘s presumed to be derived from the cakewalk, a competitive dance performed by black slaves which mocked the over-refined manners that plantation owners employed at their formal balls & where the winner received a cake.
The tagged book is the 1st in a fave bakery cozy mystery series. The MC bakes cakes & solves mysteries easily. Here are some of the “cakiest” covers.
One of the many reasons I love cozies is that they often times include recipes from the story! #includesrecipes #bookbinge @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Eggs
I really liked this one, and I was completely hungry the entire time I read it! 😂
Despite some continuity issues in the narration, this was quite an enjoyable first in the series, set in Ashland, Oregon, home to a famous Shakespeare festival. And, of course, lots of baking. Jules Capshaw seems like a down to earth heroine going through some tough times and moves back home to the family bakery. Murder, secrets, and love conflicts abound.
I love me a cozy mystery and Ellie Alexander is a master of the cozy!! #sundayfunday @ozma.of.oz
I think I would choose Ellie Alexander… I love her books and she seems so fun on all of her social media!!
#sundayfunday @ozma.of.oz
Rarely to I give cozy 5 stars but I did for this one. Juliette returns home to a small town in Oregon after a failed marriage. Her plan was to help her mother in the family bakeshop till she figures out her next move only to learn that the family business is in trouble. Soon the Tourist have arrived for the town's Shakespeare Festival, there's a wild forest fire, and now a murder on the loose. Loved it and movin on to the next book in this series
#BookMoods #SetInAPlaceYouLove
Ellie Alexander sets two of her cozy mystery series in places I love. The Bakeshop Mysteries (first tagged book) is the first) are set in Ashland, Oregon & her Sloan Krause mysteries are set in Leavenworth, Washington. (First book tagged below.) Both are cute & fun places to visit.
Hold my tea while I go find and buy the rest of this series. “Meet Your Baker“ hits all of my cozy favorites without being cliche. The Oregon bakery backdrop and Shakespeare Festival themed town are convincing and unique. Plus I love when yummy recipes are included.
Thank you for the tag @Crazeedi and @TheRiehlDeal :)
I don't think I've read a book with an unreliable narrator 🤔 I'll have to fix that sometime.
I have to agree with Diane. I love my Kindle!! (And I know Amazon is evil, agh! 😬)
This is my favorite cozy mystery series and what I recommend to people who want to try the genre.
Care to play @BookBosomed1 or @Jari-chan ??
#thoughtfulthursday @MoonWitch94
⭐️⭐️⭐️💫This was cute and I‘d definitely read another book in this series. Loved the setting in a touristy town in Oregon and there are enough rabbit holes in the mystery to keep you guessing. Recipes included in the back of the book.
It‘s his month so I‘ll let him have it. 🐈⬛
I like the Shakespeare references in here after reading Hamnet.
Finished. #cozy just a so-so. Some of it felt repetitive, flat. Whodun it surprised me.#joysofjune 68pgs.
Keeping up with agreed upon reading sections for Group #sundaybuddyread & #sophiesworld. Notre Dame- 2 chapters; Rose Code -aprox 6 hrs left; Memorial Drive- only a few pages. This past week was HS exams - so many students to support in unique ways due to Covid/remote students as well as in class students.Last is next Tuesday! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I had a Zoom with Ellie Alexander and her local library making cookies. It was so much fun and I love her books!
Hello, my name is Ghost, and I‘m the troublemaker in the family! #booksbrewsandbooze
If anyone has read Ellie Alexander‘s books, she has a collaborative cozy mystery group on Facebook. I was chosen last week to write part of the story. So cool and so much fun. Here‘s the link to watch her reading it. https://www.facebook.com/elliealexanderauthor/videos/781854149084288/
My November #Bookspin plans. Working on #LitsyAtoZ and #ProgressItNovember. Love this monthly challenge!
Any book that incorporates Shakespeare is gonna be a fun time. Wonder what the Bard would think about him taking center stage in a book written 400 years after his death. This was a fun read, well-written for a cozy w/a great setting & typical cast of over-the-top but amusing characters. Reveal was a bit loopy & I don‘t feel like the author connected all the dots, but it was enjoyable and quick and I‘ll continue with this series, for sure. 3/5 ⭐️
I‘m not a golfer, but I could tell his clubs were expensive. Not just because of their graphite shafts and custom leather covers, but because he held them to his body the way a new mother holds an infant.
🤣🤣🤣
Honestly, one of my favorite things about cozy mysteries is the punny titles 🤣🥧🔪 And this one is set in Ashland, Oregon, during the Shakespeare Festival!! So sad that I never made it up there before my illness when I was able to travel, but reading about it will be fun, especially these days.
@MatchlessMarie I ❤️❤️❤️ everything in my #cozyswap 📦. You are a good stalker. I can‘t wait to go home and put the slippers back on. They are so perfectly me. I took the tea to work for my afternoon break. Scones are on the menu for Saturday breakfast. They (and the pen) smell so good. Everything was so beautifully wrapped (I‘m sorry @Kdgordon88 I wrap like a five year old boy 😁).
THANK YOU DO MUCH!
#wondrouswednesday @Eggs
1. Definitely cleaning 🧹🧼
2. Tagged! I loved it :)
3. Zendaya!! No doubt about it. She‘s my idol 🤩
Wanna play? @Librarybelle @MoonWitch94 ☺️

Pick, pick, pick!!
I love the author and her writing. Her books are unforgettable and deserve the 5-star rating. This is the first book in the series and it didn‘t disappoint. There is tension, drama and a whole lot of mystery all happening in a bake shop. The best thing about this cozy series are the recipes in back. I can‘t wait to give them all a try.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thanks for the tag @Mishu94 🤗
😁 I‘m over the moon over this current read! Ummm and it‘s another #cozymystery 🙈😅
I can‘t help it but it‘s a wonderful reminiscent to my Nancy Drew and Hardy Boy days...maybe that‘s why it‘s so appealing
@sprainedbrain @QuietlyLaura @TheAromaofBooks wanna play? 😁

1. My backpacks. Useful and stylish!🎒
2. I live in one lol. Does it count? 😂 UAE!🇦🇪🥰
3. The tagged book. I‘m loving this author. 😍
@MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm @Mishu94 wanna play? ☺️
Still trying to break up this dang migraine streak, trying out a new cozy mystery series. I‘m very into hearing about all the food. However, I am finding it very amusing that after discovering a murder scene, after the police had arrived but before cleanup, they made coffee. In their murder-bakery/cafe. That‘s gotta be a major health and safety violation. 😂 #cozymystery
Yikes big error: heparin keeps blood from clotting so it wouldn't be given to stop bleeding. Why name a specific drug without checking what it actually does?
Thank you @Chrissyreadit adit for the #cozyswap! I love it! Thank you @avanders for hosting. Sorry for posting late. The flooding here has thrown me off. Luckily we are back home and only the storage is flooded.
Woohoo!!! Congratulations!!
I'm tagging my favorite Cozy Mystery of the year so far. Favorite actual book is just too hard to discern.
@Millesent is a newer Litten and we have bonded over the tagged book/series. :)
Litsy is my happy social media place. Real book lovers that you can talk books and life with, send cards and letters to, and generally nerd out over things together. I really love it.
Congrats @GrilledCheeseSamurai #SixDigitSamurai
So this series was described to me as Gilmore girls with a side of murder and that is just what it is. An idyllic town full of crazy personalities and a plot that kept me guessing right up until the very end!!! Absolutely loved it!!!
Dollycas‘s Thoughts
Secrets, falsehoods, and just their general demeanor made it hard to eliminate anyone outright. I followed right along and didn‘t put all the clues together until shortly before the villain reveal.

It has been an incredibly long couple of weeks so taking today to read (and clean and make a trip to the library but that's for later.) Almost finished this book in one sitting last night but got too sleepy. So I'm excited to finish it today and get the next two in the series from the library!!
This was a nice little cozy mystery I picked up for free from my Book Bub emails one day. Bonus is that I needed a book for my #Booked2019 prompt for something with food or drink on the cover and this just happen to fit the bill!
I should really pick up more cozy mysteries, they are a good palate cleanser between heavier reads!
This was not bad for your basic cozy bakery mystery. I might read another one! #ReadingUSA2019 #Oregon
I usually don't do the culinary cozies, but this was the first one that really tempted me to try the recipes. Alexander writes about pastries in a way that makes your mouth water. I really loved that while Jules is trying to help with a murder investigation, she's really bad at it. Really bad at it. I also really loved her friendship with Thomas. Alexander nails that old flames who are now friends but still flirt banter perfectly.
Day 4 #FallIntoBooks #OccupationInTheTitle I looked to my foodie books for occupations in titles and it turns out there are a lot of bakers, chefs, cooks (even an outlaw cook) & a restaurant critic (and his wife) in there. 😋🍽 A mix of fiction genres, memoirs, & foodie essays--I've read and enjoyed all of these. 🍽📚❤️
Day 7 #JubilantJuly #StartswithMNO The last books I've read or listened to on audiobook that start with M/N/O --two for each letter.
"He died when I was fifteen. Mom pays a subtle tribute to him with her rotating quote of the day on Torte's massive chalkboard menu.
Today's read, 'Torte - where everyone is above the salt.' "
This caught my eye because I always wanted to open my own independent book store. I could do daily quotes related to reading & books.
Sorry. Not really related to this book but the book gave me the idea
I've been doing a ton of food prep being on the Keto diet and this afternoon I baked this keto bread for the week. I thought it'd be rough reading this book knowing I can't at the moment eat any of the delicious baked goods Jules was making but her love for it just made me appreciate the food more.
A great setting for a great mystery. Not my favourite cozy but still an enjoyable read. Looking forward to the next one. #cozymysteries
Corgi snuggles with the latest cozy mystery. Not a bad way to start the long Canada Day weekend. 🇨🇦📚🐶💕

Fluffy mystery book haul from the library! Haven't had a new series to read back to back in a long time. 🤓
