A page-turning mystery about five queer characters (plus token straight guy) taking part in a reality TV show. Often quite funny, it's sort of part of the reality TV genre but also laughing at it. Lots of #bisexual chaos! Feminist critique of "nice guys" is spot on as is interrogation of the controlling abusive guy who claims to just be setting boundaries. They are all terrible people, but which one killed the guy who died in the last episode?
The #bisexual choas in this reality TV crime thriller is delightfully ridiculous #QueerBooks
My #roll100 picks for March are all set! I didn‘t get around to any of my February picks, but I read two of my January picks, which I think counts 😆 as always, thanks @PuddleJumper for helping me work my way through my Libby and Hoopla to-read lists.
Quite possibly one of the stupidest books I have ever read. I should have bailed, but felt I owed it to the author to at least struggle through it. I skimmed the final 8 chapters, as it was too agonizing to actually read. Characters that readers won‘t care about, a storyline that is just a little too precious and obvious, and a convenient love story that is so forced. Save yourself from this book, it is, sadly, not worth it.
Ahhhh, this was so good! I tore on through it in less than a day, thoroughly caught up in Imogen‘s identity struggles and her intense friendships. I laughed A LOT (especially at the small German sausage), nodded along with Imogen‘s thought processes, and desperately hoped for her to reject Gretchen‘s prescriptive declarations. It‘ll stay with me for a long while.
Also, I think both Imogen and Tessa would approve of my penguin. #AuldLangSpine2025
12-11-24: My 46th finished book of 2024! This was a sexually charged novel about the life of a bisexual writer. From growing up in a small town in Vermont where his mother and stepfather taught him a love for Shakespeare to the town librarian who taught him a love for reading and himself. We follow him into his late 60s through his youth, to NYC and the AIDS epidemic, and back to Vermont again. A love letter to being true to yourself. 💖

I know we usually rely on @TheBookHippie for Yiddish lessons but this word came up in my book twice already and I had to look it up! I like the positive connotation behind it

Weird, YA eldritch horror. Finch‘s cluelessness was a bit grating at times, but she navigates her way through her relationships & friendships at a prestigious performing arts school with a hidden horror.
