monalyisha Smart choices for your desert island reads; quantity and quality. 😉 And I don‘t actually know what your job is! 14h
monalyisha Perfect answer to the last question, too, by the way! 14h
vivastory @monalyisha Thank you! I'm the lead health coordinator for a non-profit that provides IDD services for adults. I help supervise & coordinate routine medical care, but also assist with urgent situations. Love my job. 9h

•What are your favorite genres? I always say Literary Fiction, because it's so vague I feel like I don't really have to decide. I like messy stories, grey areas, and people just trying their best.

•What are a few of your desert island reads? I'm a mood reader, so this is a bit of a torturous question. Becky Chambers' Robot and Monk books, The Bell Jar, Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next series, Hamnet, and Never Let Me Go

#BibliologistBio @monalyisha

TheKidUpstairs •What‘s your go-to reading snack? Hummus and Pretzels, cheese and crackers, Salt and Vinegar Chips, tea in the morning, white wine in the evening.

•Weirdest or most interesting place you‘ve read a book? I finished a book in the hospital during the long process of being induced with my third kiddo.

TheKidUpstairs •What do you do when you‘re not reading? I'm a full time mom, part time library circulation clerk. Long walks by the lake with my dog. I love to cook and binge watch comfort shows. I write when I can, and am trying to make a better practice of it. 18h
monalyisha Ah! What are you writing?! So exciting. Also, excellent taste per usual. 😉 17h
TheKidUpstairs @monalyisha these days it's mostly scraps of stories and mediocre poetry. But I've got an idea for a novel rattling around in my brain and I need to make the time to get it out of my head and onto paper :) 16h
monalyisha @TheKidUpstairs I love that for you. 💓 16h

monalyisha The desert island reads question is hard! If I‘m marooned, I‘d actually love a combo of books I‘ve read and loved (safe bets) and a few I‘ve never read but have always meant to. Also, love berries — to the point where I struggle to choose a favorite. Blackberries are my “I‘m trying to be interesting” answer but I think the truth is that strawberries are my fav. 🍓 Thanks for playing! 19h

BooksandCoffee4Me I love that you read a book during a middle school dance! My son read Of Mice and Men during a Nationals game while on his 8th-grade trip to Washington DC. 😂 16h
BooksandCoffee4Me @monalyisha Love “I‘m trying to be interesting answer” 💛 16h

Eggs @monalyisha I‘ve never had the pleasure of being on desert isle; so am I alone? In which case I would have a stack of TBRs!!! 15h
Eggs @Gissy Thank you 🙏🏻 🩷 15h

Eggs @BooksandCoffee4Me Thank you🥰 15h
Eggs @monalyisha I‘m currently on a blueberry streak, the big juicy ones 🫐 15h
monalyisha @Eggs Yes! I‘ve always viewed it as you‘re stranded, alone. Best-case scenario, which books do you have with you to keep you company? And I don‘t think survival/how-to books are really keeping in the spirit of the question. 😉 15h
Eggs @monalyisha great point! In the scenario of being stranded on said isle, I‘d like an oft-read book like Dandelion Wine, some poetry, and a journal to write in! 11h
monalyisha @Eggs Brilliant! And I love Dandelion Wine. 🌼 11h

I work as a Children‘s Librarian; moonlight as a wedding officiant, creating custom rituals and ceremonies; and go for nature walks with my dog. Sometimes, I tap dance.

Donna1980 Beer and wasabi peas! Top tier choices 😊 19h
monalyisha @Prairiegirl_reading Looking for an officiant for my own wedding! We hired a woman who was a certified Life-Cycle Celebrant. She created rituals for us using coffee, wood rounds cut from different types of trees on her property, & all sorts of other fun details. I thought, “I could do that!” I have degrees in English Lit & Religious Studies, which seemed like a pretty tailor-made background. My husband is a wedding photographer, so it made sense! (edited) 19h
Prairiegirl_reading @monalyisha that‘s awesome! 19h
monalyisha @Prairiegirl_reading Thanks! I LOVE writing the ceremonies. Readers are naturally inclined to tell stories and imbue mundane objects with meaning and symbolism; it‘s fun and it comes easily. Standing before hundreds of their closest friends & family and delivering the finished product is a different thing altogether — and something I still find very nerve-wracking. In an ideal world, I‘d hand that part off to someone else. 😅 19h
