Cat is sent begrudgingly to meet Renly. She is unimpressed with him when they arrive to a tourney. She watches with Renly &wife Margaery of Highgarden as Ser Loras is unhorsed by a blue knight but the victory is met with jeers. Cat asks”why do the hate that man?” “…because it‘s no man.” Brienne of Tarth earns a place in Renly‘s guard
Renly &Cat talk of expectations for Robb & the kingdom but are cut short as Stannis‘s army attacks.

Bklover Oh I am excited to see Brienne of Tarth!💙💙 11mo

Robb is sending Ser Cleos(relative of Freys &Lannisters) with a message to Cersei which demands his sisters‘ safe release in exchange for the Queen‘s cousins, Ned‘s bones & sword, an exchange of captives -except for Jaime.
&Joff must renounce all claims to the North.

Robb is pressured by Cat &Edmure, that he is doing too much or not enough. Cat realizes Robb is pushing her away, despite this she plots with the Blackfish to take down Tywin.

BethM Listen to your mama Rob! 12mo
5feet.of.fury @BethM I dunno… Catelyn has made some wild decisions so far 😂 12mo

BethM @5feet.of.fury fair 😂 12mo
Roary47 He is still pretty young, he should probably listen to someone. However, I don‘t feel like his requests are too much. It seems like a good arrangement, but they want Jaime back so he needs to be somewhere in the negotiations. I wish we had a POV with Robb. 12mo
5feet.of.fury @Roary47 I know! He‘s really at the heart of the action right now. He can‘t lead with his biggest bargaining chip though, Cersei / Joff have to bring something to the table, he knows they aren‘t going to renounce the lands for nothing. 12mo

Cat, grieving Ned, goes to visit her father who is dying. The Lords strategize to join with Stannis or Renley. Cat calls for a truce, for peace. She still wants her daughters back. But others are focused on vengeance.
Then the Greatjon proclaims that any of those with claims to the throne don‘t have anything to do with the problems of the North & why should they follow any of them. They proclaim Robb The King in the North.

Roary47 The first time in a long time I‘ve felt bad for Catelyn. I‘d want my girls back too. At least Arya might be able to come back more quickly. Sansa is a little stuck. 13mo
5feet.of.fury @Roary47 I wish they did try to exchange hostages & Cersei would have to admit that she has no freaking clue where Arya is.. 13mo
Bklover I‘m glad Catelyn finally admitted to herself that capturing Tyrion was a mistake. 13mo

Cat worries for Robb. She can‘t get close enough to see the battle but hears the clash of swords, hoofbeats & screams.
Robb returns, safe but shaken. &they have captured Jaime.
From Jaime,Cat requests the return of her father, brother, daughters& husband. He offers only quips.
Robb is mourning the lives lost, while Theon is taking too much pleasure in victory. Cat reminds him there‘s fighting still to come. They‘ve won the battle but not the war.

Cat is riding w/Robb & the host when they reach Walder Frey‘s area, they discuss where his allegiance may lie, but they must have that crossing. Lannisters have made their attack on Riverrun & her brother Edmure is captured. Cat meets with Lord Frey instead of Robb. He‘s a looney old perv, but Cat finds his price: she is to foster 2 of his young sons in Winterfell, take an older son to make a knight, a marriage for Arya… & for Robb & they cross.

Bklover Poor Arya. The sell her off like cattle. To those yucky people. 13mo
5feet.of.fury @Bklover they don‘t even know where Arya is! The whole thing is messed up. 13mo
Roary47 I was thinking that too. You don‘t know where Arya is? Maybe they can fake her death so she doesn‘t have to go. There is a lot of children shuffling in this chapter. 13mo
5feet.of.fury @Roary47 I was not impressed with Cat‘s negotiating. 13mo

Cat feels pride at Robb‘s leadership, but she also has fears; he is 15 & leading a host to battle, what chance could he have against seasoned battle commanders like Tywin & Jaime? But he comes up with a strategy.
After, Cat chooses to head for Riverrun & the Tullys instead of Winterfell.

BethM Go@home Cat! It also strikes me how young Robb is here, like you feel the emotion of it. 13mo
5feet.of.fury @BethM agree! I really liked the way she coached him through it. 13mo
BooksNBowls @BethM i really enjoyed their interaction! She definitely needs to GO HOME! I don‘t see how she can help Rob any more than she has. The stubbornness of these Starks!! 13mo

But in the duel”the Gods proclaim Tyrion innocent” ..but Lysa will send him home down the perilous high road

Cat, Tyrion & what remains of the travelers arrive at Eyrie. She is met by her Uncle Brynden the Blackfish. They plan to camp that night but Lisa insists Cat make the journey to the castle, a perilous journey by mule …while Lysa sleeps. Lysa accuses Cat of bringing danger to her door for bringing Tyrion. We meet @BooksNBowls favorite 😂 Lydia‘s son Robert Arryn Lord of the Vale, who is 6. & we see why Brynden suggested Lysa & son were unbalanced.

5feet.of.fury This chapter felt long but not much of consequence. For those of us that are still haters, Catelyn was helped on her journey by a bastard, Mya Stone, & feels a twinge of guilt when she thinks of Jon at the Wall 14mo
BooksNBowls 🤣🤣🤣🤣 my favorite now?!? 14mo

5feet.of.fury @BooksNBowls 🤣 I know you were excited to get to these 2 weirdos haha 14mo
Bklover @5feet.of.fury Not enough of a twinge! Catelyn is annoying as hell, but I thoroughly enjoyed her seeing Lysa and Robert! 😂😂 Oh, and after this whole trip Lysa is mad that she brought Tyrion to her!! 14mo
5feet.of.fury @Bklover Lysa having a nap while Catelyn was risking life and limb on a mule was hilarious to me! And then she totally downplayed her role in accusing the Lannisters of murder. 14mo
Bklover @5feet.of.fury Yes! The nap was hilarious. That climb seemed horrendous! And Lysa welcoming her in her pajamas was perfect! 14mo

Catelyn has reached kings landing & is intercepted by a man from her past, Robert‘s Master of Coin, Littlefinger. We get more info on Varys & his Little Birds, he already knows about Catelyn‘s mission- & the dagger. Littlefinger recognizes it as 1 he lost in a bet & Catelyn is quick to trust when he reveals the true owner…

Bklover I‘ve always liked Varys for some reason, but Littlefinger is kinda creepy! Also, this Catelyn sure doesn‘t seem anything like earlier Catelyn. 1y
5feet.of.fury @Bklover I think Littlefinger is creepy too, his creepy crush on Catelyn after all this time, starting trouble because he‘s in the friend zone 😂 1y
Sargar114 @Bklover @5feet.of.fury so creepy!!! 1y
Sargar114 @Bklover good point regarding this Catelyn vs earlier, I wonder if that was an edit or an intentional decision because she was grieving. 1y

Catelyn has been tending to Bran &the running of Winterfell falls to the wayside. Robb steps up. A fire burns the library &Catelyn is confronted by a killer who is after Bran with an exquisite dagger. She &Bran are saved by his direwolf. The dagger is so beyond the killer‘s means that she quickly suspects the Lannisters &plans to ride South to Kings Landing ahead of Ned, Robert & the rest of the traveling party. #ReadingWesteros #GOTChapterADay

Roary47 I like posting each day too, but wondering if I‘m the only one. 😅 I can stop and just respond here. I think my favorite part was Catelyn allowing Bran‘s wolf to lay with him. 🥰 1y
5feet.of.fury @Roary47 you can do whichever works better for you! …I agree Catelyn‘s change of heart to the wolves & finding her resolve to protect her family was very positive. & since she wasn‘t bashing Jon this chapter it was easy to sympathize with her 1y

Bklover I love the direwolf saving Bran, and Catelyns‘s reaction too. @Roary47 and @5feet.of.fury Now I don‘t have to be quite as mad at Catelyn! 1y
Sargar114 I love how grief is portrayed. It‘s all emotion and follows no logic, but then the attack on Bran wakes her up. 1y
5feet.of.fury @Sargar114 agree, when she said “my son is lying here and you want me to pick *a master of horse*?!” I felt that. sometimes being faced with a tragedy it‘s impossible to fathom that the world is just still spinning around. But then she realized there was still a threat to her family & she chooses to act. 1y
BethM @Roary47 I like reading your posts! @Bklover I agree. On the whole this chapter shift Catelyn for me bc it‘s like no F these people I‘m showing the world who they are. 1y
