May 11, 2025 Happy Mother's Day to all the hardworking fearless strong compassionate mothers out there who do EVERYTHING for their kids. Today I am starting this TBR. I sort of started it but never finished it so I am re-reading it again.

Wow this is heavy. Very well written, I recommend the audio, not only does the narrator do a great job it is nice to hear the authentically pronounced Chinese words.
I loved the interview with the author at the end where she talks about the inspiration (very awful - a hanging tree for Chinese folk in Idaho her father discovered) and what was fiction and non
An important read as we come out of the COVID mania where so many people were targets.

ChaoticMissAdventures I really liked the plot device in which the main character is named after a literary character and that character haunts the main character throughout guiding and giving a sort of friendship. It was a well used and written idea. 14mo

October 2, 2024 Still reading The Chinese Groove by Kathryn Ma but decided to visit one of my favorite bookstores, Green Apple, on Clement St because I wanted to see what they had. Came across these two gems and will be reading them soon...One of the books is a gift for my mom 🤪🧐🥳

August 10, 2024 Started this TBR today. Not sure if I like it yet. Also not sure whether I am going to have enough time to read it as the school year is approaching around the corner...

1. Books for bookclub I always make sure I read in time. Otherwise it's whatever genre I feel like reading. Then I look at my tbr on Goodreads and choose one that fits my mood.
2. The Chinese Groove and Before I Go to Sleep are the next books in line for bookclubs.

This is quite good. The author takes a historical fact and writes a story around it. It's like an adult version of Stacey Lee. It isn't cheerful, but I recommend it anyway. Read for my IRL book club.

I was instantly drawn in and engaged but by half way though I had fallen asleep multiple times while reading so...

ChaoticMissAdventures Maybe the best book to keep on your bedside for those insomnia nights? 😂 2y
