Pickpick

Just so wonderful to encounter a collection of stories where each entry is well crafted, a slightly different iteration of Batman, matched with the heavy hitters of his rogues gallery, another peek into that world. Impressions of each story as follows:
The Butler Did it -dark and sad take on Alfred and Bruce relationship
All of the Above - In case it wasn't clear that Batman is a badass. ..
1/?

Robotswithpersonality 2/? The Crime Never Committed - loved everything but the ending, could have used a couple pages more for a resolution
Crisis in Identity - absolutely loved, anything where Joker's in play, where the nature of Batman is under discussion, really dug the art style, way it was drawn and use of colour, violent but fantastic (note to self, see what else Ben Templesmith has leant his hand to)

Robotswithpersonality 3/? Letters to Batman - emotional, violent, but heart warming
A Game to Die For - helluva twist, but overall just tragic
Batman The Movie - pretty much exactly what you'd expect to happen if anybody were foolish enough to try
Together - Eloquently horrifying as any time spent contemplating that character's existence always is
4mo
Robotswithpersonality 4/4 A Slam Bradley Mystery - I've got a soft spot for grizzled hard luck cases who still try to do the right thing, I wouldn't mind seeing this character wade into another dangerous situation
⚠️ Domestic abuse

This was much better than the last one in the series. It actually had a decent plot, I thought it was really entertaining. There was still some references to stuff we haven't seen in any of the books. I don't know if we will ever get an explanation about that. This one was also narrated a bit differently than the other ones, we were told the story from a different pov.

While this did continue off the Klaus storyline, it had a large time jump between the last book and this one. I felt like I missed a complete book because it kept being referenced. It was all a bit disjointed. The story didn't flow smoothly either. It's disappointing since I really enjoyed Klaus. Maybe the next books will be better.

Soft pick. Cool concept, strong art, but it didn‘t draw me in as much as I was hoping. For all its grittiness the characters seemed a bit flat. #Scarathlon2022 #TeamMonsterMash @StayCurious @StayCurious #Spookoween2022 @TheSpineView #31by31 @Catsandbooks #PointsAThon @dieareader @GHABI4ROSES #OutstandingOctober @andrew65 #bodycountbingo @PuddleJumper
