I‘m a sucker for books about writing—I enjoy them both as a reader & as someone who occasionally does some editing. This short volume was first published in 2006 (and may be hard to find) & it‘s a fantastic resource for young aspiring writers. Levine breaks everything down into short chapters—on character, getting stuck, setting, revising & loads more—that always end with a writing exercise to reinforce the lesson. Encouraging & informative.

Jeg At one point the author lived here in Western Australia. Not sure where she is now. She was a mentor to a friend who was doing a writing course. 2mo

Bought at a second hand shop on a whim. Did not expect to find it so poignant and charming.
Yes - the children were a little precocious for their age... but this book captured the innocence of youth.

I‘m a lifelong reader but I‘ve always struggled with poetry. Recently I saw a post online about a completely unrelated subject that had someone comment, “Explain it to me like I‘m 8,” and I thought, “Gee, I wish someone would explain poetry to me like I‘m 8.” Cue the Amazon search, and here we are with my current read!
