Beautifully written and wonderfully illustrated. It's the classic fairy tale written by the great Stephen King. Nothing too scary in this book for kids. The artwork is very calming and wonderful like all of Sendak's books. A must read for any fan of King, Sendak or the fairy tale.

I read 10 books in November.

The length of this novel did a disservice to the premise. 😏 It would have been much better as a short story or novella. What did the editor do aside from check grammar and spelling? I got through the audio only because I spent hours in the kitchen cooking & cleaning for Thanksgiving.

I read the Summer War last night. It's short and lovely and I read it in one sitting. It's very much a fairy tale told by the youngest of three siblings. All three children are very much involved in this story. I enjoyed it very much.
Also this book finished my goodreads reading challenge.😁

I won a Goodreads giveaway!! 🎉
This is only the 2nd or 3rd time I‘ve ever won one!

Naomi Novik can keep me up all night reading and knock me out in under 130 pages, anytime! This exquisitely wrought fairy tale of love, vengeance, and siblinghood is an ode to the magic and power of coming together to find a new and better ending for an old and painful story. A new all-time favorite.

93/100 For such a short book, it definitely packs a wallop. It's a beautiful, lyrical fairy tale of love, loss, grief, revenge and redemption. Unlike Automatic Noodle, which was too short and left me wanting more, this is just the right size for the story the author wants to tell. 4.75/5 #Read2025
