Slow to start, but worth the patience. Queer pain in a patriarchal village makes for heavy reading, but the mystery pulls you in. Loved the ace representation. A quiet, layered story that rewards you for staying with it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #GenreBending

Finally, finally finished this one... overall, it‘s not the worst book I‘ve ever read, but IMHO, it is very boring with a weak plot. The character are mostly uninteresting, and at times the time skips feel like a crutch. However, the last 60 pages actually make the book worth reading and has some really beautiful lines and imagery. I give it 🌟🌟.. the ending is its saving grace... #pbc #genrebending @Wife

rjsthumbelina I was honestly having trouble with it in the print, but I started listening to it on audio while reading, and it totally changed my experience! It brought the characters to life for me. I didn't think the plot was super strong either - the only storyline I liked was the one about being in the movies 7y

I finished last month, but mailing today. So, Becky, you will have it soon. I don‘t want to give any spoilers, but just say I‘m happy to have read it. Only a so-so because it had a couple slow spots. 3/5 ⭐️s
I‘m nervous about a couple of my reads coming from the group, but I‘m brave and determined. 😬
Background is the puzzle my grandson and I worked on last night.

Chronicled_by_Caits I know the thought.. 😝 7y
wellreadredhead I hope you enjoy some of the other picks from your group! It‘s quite an adventure to read other people‘s picks in many different genres. I look forward to seeing everyone‘s journey! 7y

Now I want like ten more dystopian cozy mysteries. Immediately.

Genre mash-ups are high risk, high reward - and this one is a joy. It's like watching Midsommer Murders after the apocalypse.

Ok so this is the book I choose for #genreswapPBC and I‘m feeling a tad overwhelmed... see, confession time: I don‘t keep a book journal while I read so I‘m not sure what I need to be noting... I feel like I should be filling a notebook with my thoughts on every paragraph, but that feels exhausting... and it‘s affecting my reading because I‘m too focused on what I should be noting... any tips for this novice noted?? #genrebending

Burghbookaddict I wrote directly in my book whenever I had a random thought, but I felt like I didnt really write enough either! I dont think theres any right or wrong way to do it, tho, so I would just do whatever you feel like 😊 8y
Chronicled_by_Caits @laurenashley I see... perhaps that would be best...? 8y
Burghbookaddict Yeah I couldnt think of a good way to do it with a journal so thats the route I went 8y

Chronicled_by_Caits @laurenashley I thought that I could keep it like a stream of thought deal, but that would take forever, and I‘ve fallen behind enough as it is... 8y
ElishaLovesBooks I would just annotate big ideas, things that seem shocking/ surprising, and any questions. Maybe also your opinions. (Can you tell I teach reading to middle schoolers?😉) I think more than that and it will take the fun out of reading! Good luck! 8y
Chronicled_by_Caits @ElishaLovesBooks ok that makes sense ☺️☺️ 8y
SledgeReader @TheRomantiCate @laurenashley @ElishaLovesBooks Glad to read this thread. I‘ve been struggling with the same issue. Sort of found my way in the same direction. 😊 7y
Chronicled_by_Caits @SledgeReader well as I‘ve been reading I‘ve been marking in the book, underlining things I want to remember, writing little thoughts in the margins... I don‘t know how it works for others, but I‘m doing my best hehe 😄 7y
