This was such a fun read. Great little mystery with well-developed (for the reading level) characters, a cross between two of my childhood favorites: Nancy Drew and Harriet the Spy. Recommended reading for 4th through 7th grade. I‘ve enjoyed it so much that I‘m going to look for the next book at my library.

A fictional story about conjoined twins growing up in Ontario, Canada. Despite the strangeness of the premise, the author makes the girls' lives seem ordinary (but still interesting) and relatable.

I have spent the last several months working with K-8 students using school libraries as my “office.” I have definitely rediscovered my love for children‘s books. I‘m seriously considering switching to children‘s collections for my Master‘s.

This book is pretty good, so far. I got about a quarter of the way through today because all my second graders were independent minded and told me to bugger off while they worked. :D

TODAY‘S PROMPT: PROTAGONIST WITH A DISABILITY

Lillian was skepticaL about the nanny job, but also couldn‘t believe the luck of being able to live in a mansion‘s guest cottage with domestic help.

The only draw back is that the children have some rare disease where they automatically combust when they get upset. Yes...they catch on fire.

I feel like I‘m one of a few who didn‘t read this when it was published. One reason I didn‘t is because I dislike the cover. So, I finally read it after a librarian picked it for me.
I liked this story, but not as much as many other people. It was sweet, I liked the message, a quick read. 3/5 ⭐️

Soubhiville I agree about the cover. But I do enjoy Kevin Wilson. 4d

I really liked this one! It wasn't a straight-up mystery. It had so many other elements. About how nonverbal people are treated not only by society but by their own family. Racism against Asians. What happiness means, and if we could change that, should we? And also a mystery woven into all of that. I liked how deep this book went into different subjects but not enough to lose me. I thought it was all beautifully woven in and written. 5/5

Happy Mother's Day!

Currently (and slowly) making my way through the tagged book. This was a big weekend for me: my son graduated college on Friday, I found out I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes on Saturday, and today was Mother's Day! It's been a whirlwind of a day, and so beautiful! Enjoy the peony pic from my little garden!

Lori Lansens has written a few books and one of my favourite things about her is every book is different. Many authors stick to similar topics when they write fiction, but with Lori Lansens each book is so unique.

Did you enjoy reading Lori Lansens? Would you read any of her other books?

Ruthiella I would consider reading more from Lansens, though I don‘t know if I would actively seek it out. I‘m not sure I jive with her writing style. It was a little detail heavy in ways I don‘t often like because I don‘t see the point of it. Like the car sickness, or the Merkels, etc. 2w
Jess861 @Ruthiella That makes sense - she is very detail oriented in her writing style. If you ever do pick up another of hers I would recommend Rush Home Road. 2w
kwmg40 This is my first book by Lori Lansens and I would certainly consider reading another of her books. 1w
Jess861 @kwmg40 Glad to hear you enjoyed her writing! 6d
