Les Miserables: (penguin Classics Deluxe Edition) | Victor Hugo

Succumbed and on New Year‘s Day decided to join the Buddy Read of Les Miserables. #ReadLesMes. Let‘s hope I don‘t regret joking this year long Buddy Read. 😳

Read the first bit in the early hours so think I‘ve met the first 3 or 4 characters. We possible need a link to the characters as they are introduced, so we can keep them right.

What I find strange is how it says he was Bishop of D______. I wonder why he did it like this.

Andrew65 @TheBookHippie Thanks, we‘ve already met Napoleons but by the look of it the only real focus is on those three characters in the initial section. 3d

Andrew65 @Cuilin I have got 3 copies, two e-books from different libraries and one on serial reader to check that. 😂. They all had D______. They also said he was Curé of B______ previously, but in that case did have Brignolles in brackets. @TheBookHippie (edited) 3d

Ruthiella You can do it! Reading these super long books with a group is so helpful, IMO. Just have patience for the seemingly interminable parts about the Battle of Waterloo, French religious orders and the Paris sewer system, etc. 3d

Andrew65 @TheBookHippie Day one section sent through Chapter 1 and Chapter 2. Today‘s section sent through Chapter 3 and 4. It‘s good for reading books (older books that are free) in small bite size pieces. 3d

TheBookHippie @Cuilin oh yeah, my penguin I had to break the spine or it happened naturally. It‘s fairly beat up from my year with it. I do love it so. It kept me sane in 2020. 3d
