Indiespensable

I received my second #Indiespensable box (including local Dutch cookies having travelled half the world 😉) and I am loving it.

How sad that this will be my last box as well since Powell‘s won‘t be sending boxes to the EU any longer due to some stupid European regulation.

I am sad about that, I had been looking forward to collecting these wonderful editions 😢

Hooked_on_books The cookie! 😂 I have a Powell‘s pint glass as well. It‘s one of my favorites. So disappointing that they won‘t be offering the box to EU folks anymore. 😔 3y

BarbaraBB @Megabooks @Hooked_on_books It sucks! Many small shops outside Europe won‘t be able to ship any longer. And we‘ll have to pay extra for the ones who do. It‘s old-spool trade protection imo and it‘s ridiculous. 3y

The young Tiller is mesmerized by businessman Pong. The feeling seems mutual and Pong takes him on a business trip to #China. A second storyline is set afterwards, while Tiller is living with a woman under witness protection and her young son. Unfortunately the book didn‘t grab me as much as I expected to. In parts it‘s brilliant but it is sooo long. The endings of both storylines are memorable though!

Megabooks You know, when I first finished it, I thought it was just a tad above average, but then when it really stuck with me, and I started to absentmindedly make connections, I found it more brilliant. Definitely not 5⭐️, but an above average pick for me. It‘s one I‘ll reread at some point. Lovely pic! (edited) 4y

BarbaraBB @Megabooks I‘d love that to happen. The making connections I mean. Because that‘s what I miss at the moment, it all feels a bit loose, like a bunch of short stories brought together in one book. 4y

Hooked_on_books I‘m about halfway through this one on audio and having a similar response. It‘s not nearly as engaging as I was expecting. I‘m actually finding my attention wandering a bit as I listen. 4y

Suet624 Yes, I‘ve actually participated on three separate occasions over the years. I almost always enjoyed the selections. It just got to be too expensive for me. 4y

Megabooks @vivastory I‘m going to try to read my Libby books with lines first. I just realized I have 14 audiobooks checked out. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ Three or four I‘ll probably end up returning without listening, but I‘m going to try to read the ones with lines. 4y

vivastory I just noticed that MYA is the current Indispensable selection. I've been mulling over buying a subscription for awhile & I just signed up for it. I've bought a few previous selections on ebay & love them 4y

I put the tagged book on hold before the shut down and was able to finally get it today, as my library is now offering “take out.” 🥡 I love their phrasing. 😆 And then I swung by the post office, as my May #botm arrived today as did my #indiespensable subscription! Good day for books!
