⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book was perfect. At first I felt some some parts were too dense and skipped over too quickly, not exploring the complex issues sufficiently. But in the end, it just felt right. It taught me a lot about Cyprus and some of its tragedies that happened in not too distant past and the pain that lives on in peoples hearts.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ a mystery with several things going on, that all come together in the end. A fast read, with chapters that you‘ll fly through & some unexpected twists. Basically if you‘re in a reading slump, this might be the book for you!
A few couples deal with lost opportunities and want a second chance, & there is a not so sweet old lady who has lost her husband and her eyesight at the center of it all. Not a bad story but not memorable IMO.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ WOW! A great narrative, a beautiful translation and an impactful and thought-provoking read. Describes four murders committed by women in Chile in the 20th century. The crimes themselves are horrific but Alia Trabucco Zerán will also guide you through the narrative that accompanied them due to the gender of the perpetrators. Highly recommended!
I‘m kind of conflicted about this one but I‘ll give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
There is a sadist, a masochist, a good amount of depression and a ‘love triangle‘ …if you can call it that. It‘ll give you quite a bit to think about and it is a really quick read. It was going to read it in March but read it in a couple hours today
⭐️⭐️⭐️
3 stars for the book but 5 ⭐️s for the cover! I really do love it 😁
A woman suffers from a curious condition where she slips into a coma at times and appears to be dead. And she‘s married to a man that‘s interested in her $$$ a lot more than he is in her. You can imagine what could happen when you combine these two ideas. Not a bad read at all but not a favorite either.

Will be a solid contender for my favorite of 2022.
Part 1 takes place during the Palestine / Israel conflict..the Israeli soldiers capture a teenage girl, rape, kill and bury her.
Part 2 takes place close to current day where a woman tries to uncover the details of the crime.
The book is beautifully written but clearly deals I with a very raw and horrific topic. It‘ll stay with me for a while.
3.5 ⭐️s
A VERY quick read, all written in the form of slack chats. One of the office workers gets stuck in slack and all sort of weirdness ensues. It is quirky, funny but don‘t expect any deep life lessons out of this one 😁 if you have a few free hours, give it a try.
I got this beauty in the mail today. Starting on it right away. @allureofbeauty @Bianca @ImperfectCJ

Hello @booksellerofyourdiscontent @Pogue @Littlewolf1 here are some choices for my book. Let me know if any look interesting.

Tana French does such a great job using the concept of family - blood relatives or chosen. I‘ve seen this in a number of her books and it always leaves me longing for that close connection. But unfortunately, it doesn‘t take long for cracks to start showing.
I truly loved this one and left me broken hearted.
Highly recommended although it is long and a slow burn. Be ready.
@Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks you truly made my day! Thank you for the Blind Date with a Book! I don‘t have this one and I‘ve been wanting to read it!! Thank you so so much 💕 📕
I will read this one next!
Hope you‘re having an amazing weekend! 💗

Faithful Place…This one got under my skin. Almost quit halfway through because I didn‘t want to know what happened. No matter what, it wasn‘t going to be ok…but what a great story ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
On to The Likeness.
So here‘s my first 2022 goal - read the remaining Tana French books!! 📚
I have all of them on my shelves but have only read 4, reading the fifth one one - Faithful Place.
Here‘s to Tana French January 2022! 🥂 🎊 😁
So my challenge this year is to read all the books I have on my shelves that I haven‘t read yet. 💕💕💕
I did pre-order a couple more books so they‘ll come in when they get released. Other than that, no buying new books all year!! Hmm… 🤔 wonder if that‘s doable 😁
Any books that I don‘t like will get I hauled 😃
Good luck to me I guess LOL 🙃

I am not much of a poetry girl so this #LMPBC #GroupU round is definitely helping me step out of my comfort zone.
Having said that, I really enjoyed this one. One of my favorites pictured above.

When starting this one, I was worried I wouldn‘t like it. I heard it was very different than Tana French‘s last novel (the witch elm) and that didn‘t seem like a selling point.
If you‘re having the same reservations, worry not. It‘s still got Tana French all over it.
It‘s a missing persons mystery, with the question of - how do we define what is good and what is not - at the core of it. Not as easy as one might think.
Loved it.
2021 was a really odd reading year for me. I didn‘t read a lot and I read quite a few books that I wouldn‘t usually pick up but somehow they worked.
Thank you so much @babyruth2510 !!! 🎄 🎁 📕 🍫
I‘ve been wanting to read this one so it‘s perfect! And the chocolates are so delicious! One of my favorites! 💕 this continues to be my favorite swap 😁

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A good mystery, enjoyable to read. It will keep you guessing until (almost) the end as you follow detective Kaga while he figures it all out and makes some friends along the way.
@babyruth2510 @MaleficentBookDragon
So YES - my daughter opened the package but I did get there in time before the book was open! Looking forward to my mystery holiday read! 🎄 🎁 📖

Doing an #Unhaul !! I will probably do a few more this month.
These are all books I really enjoyed but unfortunately need to free up some shelf space.
If anyone is interested please comment to claim. 1 per person, first come / first serve.
All unclaimed books are getting donated next weekend 😊
A really nice mystery. A whole lot of sadness and pain with a good amount of crazy mixed in.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Just signed up for the #Jolabokaflodswap !!! It‘s pretty much a tradition now 😁 🎄 📕 🍫
Thank you @MaleficentBookDragon for coordinating again!!! 💕
I actually ended up DNFing this one. I do love the author‘s writing style, it‘s beautiful and impactful, but the ideas in the book were so thoroughly described in Dear Senthuran (the author‘s recent memoir)I just couldn‘t get into Freshwater. I might come back to it, it just didn‘t feel like the right read for me right now.

Yes, this book needs some uninterrupted time. You have to let yourself get into it without disruption…and when you do, it is such a great read! It‘s fascinating and funny, really well researched, and gave me so much more perspective on what really took place back in those days. I was worried this would be dry and was somewhat intimidated by this book. It wasn‘t and I loved it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hi #LMPBC #GROUPU #POETRY readers 😁
Here are my options to pick from. Basically I went through new poetry lists to come up with these - and this is what looked interesting.
Would you like to read any of these??

5⭐️ A beautiful & impactful tale. A story about Wallace who‘s lived his life putting his work as a lawyer above all else - including family & friends. So when his life ends suddenly, and the one thing that gave him meaning is taken away, he must learn how to appreciate the things he didn‘t notice before. But there‘s so much more to it and so many more great characters that you‘ll truly feel very close to by the time this journey ends. 💕
Let me know if either one of these looks good for #LMPBC #Round13 #GroupO @allureofbeauty @Bianca @ImperfectCJ
If neither one works, I have a few more. Looking forward to this round! 🙂
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
To me this did not feel sad, but it did have a numbing effect at times, the way grief does. It also seemed to move beyond grief and slip briefly into madness, again and again. It is a story of a woman that is losing her husband to cancer, her experience during his final weeks of life, and her life shortly after his death as she‘s figuring out her own identity.
A great interview with JCO here https://youtu.be/NElkoUXn2Nc
So establishing a lengthy TBR has never worked for me. I ALWAYS deviate from the plan 😁
But it‘s fun to do!!! So here we go!! This will last me a few months 🍁 ❄️
A definite pick - another #LMPBC read. I mean how can you not like this? It was funny, genuine and inspiring 😊

Question for librarians or anyone with good ideas 😄 📚
Thank you @MommyOfTwo !!! What a great #fffs #FallIngForFallSwap package! Great books, yummy snacks, I love the mug! Might need to get into the spirit of fall with some of that pumpkin coffee 😊🍁🍂🍁 thank you again!! Love it!
@cwarnier Thank you soooo much!!! Love everything and the books make me crave something sweet lol 🍪 🍰 yum! Love all the bookmarks and the coffee will be gone in no time 😁 so much great stuff here! Thank you 😊 🍁 🍂 🍁 #fffs #FallingForFallSwap
#BookHaul !!!! 🍁 Many based on #BookTube recommendations, some just because they looked good 😁 some from #MyTBR by #BookRiot, one from #HarvardBookstore subscription and one from #AndOtherStories Publishing…
hmm…what should I read next 🤔 🍁
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ it was hard to get into this at first, the style, names, the small snippets of the story left me confused but in the end this was a winner! It‘s a story of a family running a hair business - buying from poor women in poor countries and selling to those that can afford and want to look fabulous! But that only turns out to only be a small part of the story. A good thriller with some magical realism thrown in.
#LMPBC
Here we go! Time for some Norma! #LMPBC #Round12 @suvata @magyklyXdelish @collegecatlady @shadowspeak17
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A cool science fiction mystery /thriller. I got it through a #MyTBR #BookRiot recommendation subscription otherwise I would have never stumbled on it.
An expedition of humans and androids lands on a new planet with the intention of determining whether it could be inhabited by humans. However, things start getting really strange as soon as they arrive as some crew members catch a mysterious illness and the androids seem off as well.
Wow…what to say about this one. It‘s a good horror, creepy, weird, gross, gory…maybe too much so for my taste but overall the book is great. I did have to skip a few pages here and there where it just got to be too much but if that stuff doesn‘t bother you, definitely pick it up. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - would have been higher if it wasn‘t for all the stomach-turning scenes. #LMPBC #Round12 #GroupS @suvata @shadowspeak17 @collegecatlady @magyklyXdelish
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It was a new experience for me…I feel like I should read it again to tie it all together. It starts with a former actress working at an audio theater, which will soon be shutting down permanently. But perhaps that‘s all unimportant. What follows is a (as the translator calls it) ‘repetition, mirroring, echoing, and overlapping‘ of events, characters and details. Hard to describe. Definitely worth a read. Or two. Or three.
