My library used book sale haul from this morning 🤪 So much for trying to stick to a very restricted buying criteria 🤦‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ Several of these I‘ve had on my Goodreads ‘To Read‘ list for years. So, now that I have a physical copy on my Mt. TBR pile there‘s no excuse to not get to them now 😏😜LOL yeah, right - watch me 🤣

⭐️⭐️ I wouldn‘t necessarily call it an “attempt”so much as a plan that was, thankfully, foiled. I will say with all the Kennedy books I read last year, I don‘t recall this piece of his story which happened after the election, but prior to inauguration. This would‘ve been better without the rudimentary recap of his life before and after it, but I guess they needed word count. This wasn‘t great.

MallenNC I only know about this bc I read a book about What Ifs of history and one chapter was about what would have happened if that attempt had succeeded. 9mo

britt_brooke @MallenNC One chapter is all it needed here, too. 😂 But to consider what-ifs is interesting! I recently read a JFK Jr oral history and it posed the question of what if he hadn‘t died so young? Would he have been a presidential candidate in 2016? 9mo

MallenNC @britt_brooke I love those kinds of what ifs. I think JFK Jr going into politics is something a lot of people romanticize now. I‘m not sure he would have but I have read that he was moving more in that direction. 9mo

Awesome book about the life of one of Americas most iconic presidents! Enjoyed the dives into JFKs life history and personal life, and the unbiased history of the assassination itself. Highly recommend!

It‘s not a book I would have picked up on my own, but I really enjoyed it, so thanks, Dad ❤️ It was impressively written by JFK but not about himself. Each chapter is a vignette of a courageous point of a Senator‘s career where he followed his own conscience despite his party or constituents or everyone disagreeing with him. Doing what you feel is the right thing doesn‘t win popularity contests.

American Values: Lessons I Learned from My Family | Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

This book! I‘m fascinated by the Kennedy family. I‘ve read many books about them. But this book by RFK Jr. is on a whole other level. I started following him on social media a few years ago. I find him super intelligent, charming, funny, compassionate and so dedicated to America‘s wellbeing. He‘s forthright about his shortcomings. This book reinforces the idea that agencies have been abusing their powers for over 60 years. And it continues.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Read this to round out my Kennedy deep dive. It was, of course, super interesting at times, but insanely long for a book covering a six day period. I slogged through.
