4🌟
#BookedInTime World War II @Cuilin @dabbe
I chose this as an Amazon first pick a few years ago. It interesting to read a story set in the Philippines. I hope there will be more World War 2 books written set in the Pacific Theater.

Cuilin Looks interesting. WWII ✅🎉 14mo

The last book read in 2021.

Noland is working as a lantern seller with Elvis. Noland is 10 yr old, mute and lives in the slum with his mother.

Just a few days before Christmas Noland and Elvis is present at a shooting where a woman is injured. Noland decides to take her home.

Soon it is all over the news that an American woman is missing.

We follow the events from Noland, Elvis, their neighbors, the journalists and the government‘s side.

This is Gail's debut #middlegrade #novel that follows Sab and Pepper on an adventure around #Manila that brings Sab's family understanding, growth, and reconciliation. Gail isn't afraid to talk about the harsh truths of society, creating a deeply realistic and relatable story for #filipino #readers, and #awareness to intl readers. It's rich in culture, and I love that Gail shows us both the beautiful and the tragic
