This looks really interesting. But also check out The Blue Tattoo for a non-fiction account of someone living in a white society with a tattoo on her face. It takes place in the 1800's before tattoos were considered acceptable. Olive Oatman was her name, though I consider the story quite sad.
panThis was a big disappointment for me. I expected the majority of the story to take place after her 30 years on the island back in New York. It was mostly on the island and mostly about tattoos from the indigenous people‘s point of view in the island on the Pacific. Terrible cop out ending. Didn‘t really care about the characters.
