Freida McFadden didn‘t disappoint with this novel. There were so many twists I wasn‘t sure how it would end. Sam and Abby have been married for years and have been unsuccessful in having a baby. Monica, Abby‘s assistant volunteers to be a surrogate for them. Lots of things go wrong, of course. The characters were wrapped up some I liked and others were not good humans. 4/5

I saw the end coming with this 🤣 I think I've read that much Freida McFadden books that I actually have her mindset going in now.
Still an enjoyable read which is perfectly paced. I always find FM's epilogues are wild. Just when you think everything is sorted.....BAM... epilogue... all goes west 🤣

Dark Corners is a fast-paced thriller with a few twists and turns. While there are some twists and turns in the novel, there are also a lot of parts that were rather predictable but that did not take away from my enjoyment of the narrative. The audiobook was simply ok and did not do the novel justice. At times I felt like the narration was too monotone and flat, although I did like that there were different narrators.

I almost always find McFadden's books to be well developed with a complete out of left field twist at the end. This time around I came away somewhat disappointed. The story stressed me out something fierce, which isn't neceoa bad thing, but I want it to all come together in the end. And with this #audiobook, I didn't even like the ending. Some of the twist I was down for; however, the actual ending itself seemed contrived and irritating. 3.5 ⭐

This was a cute, fun read. Enjoyed the blend of mystery and romance. The romance didn‘t overpower the mystery and the diverse cast of characters were all fully three dimensional and interesting. Although it was a mystery and there were some serious elements in it, it was also cheerful and uplifting. Really liked it.

It was an entertaining easy read, and I enjoyed it. I felt it relied on a lot of cliches and a stereotypical bad-guy husband with no redeeming features. Also a huge fascination with hair... Anyway, lots of small characters who didn't add a lot to the plot, alongside our plucky heroine, who took a lot of slightly implausible risks. Particularly for the finale. I mean, you just would NOT do that. Unnecessary peril. But nevertheless, a good read.

I really liked this one. It is a British police procedural with the added twist of the woman in charge (Kat) being told she has to work with and evaluate an AI assistant (Lock). They are supposed to be working cold cases, but when they get a lead the case becomes active. Her reluctance to use the AI & it's eerie human like presence add both interest and humour. I was happy to see that there is a sequel. Thanks to NetGalley for the digital ARC. 5/5
