The Wife Upstairs: A Novel | Freida McFadden
post image

I‘m tutoring incarcerated college-age young people and want to give them books. County officer says: “it has to be a paperback and appropriate (ie, no overly sexual content, no gruesome killings, etc)” — one of the girls has read all of #friedamcfadden books, and wondering if anyone here can give me suggestions for more books to get her — she loves #mysteries Thanks!

Dark Corners was just ok for me. A podcaster gets entangled into a missing girl case that potentially leads back to murders in the past. The pluses are I like how all the details eventually connect but the minuses are it‘s a slow process to get there. The peek into an influencers world was a little interesting albeit annoying at times as well.

Well written. Fast paced. Not too cliched. Overall not too bad. Just the ticket for a beach or plane read. Liz Nugents Lying in wait is a similar theme and I would highly recommend that.

Reportes who were main characters in this story felt interesting. At the beginning they talked about their childhoods and that gave them some depth.

The setting was an abandoded church and that could have been amazing (scary!) setting. Descriptions were non-existent so there is that :( Everythings was over before you were immersed into the story.

I enjoed as long as this lasted but I think this could have offered so much more.

Another great thriller from McFadden that I read in a day! I really do love her books. If you‘ve liked her previous books you will like this one too!! This would make a great movie or mini series. I‘m eager to read the remaining McFadden‘s on my shelf!

I‘m still hooked on Freida McFadden‘s books. I chose to give the Housemaid series a pause and read The Perfect Son. It was another great one! Freida delivers that unexpected twist I‘ve come to rely on. The twist in this book literally stopped me in my tracks.
