I almost always find McFadden's books to be well developed with a complete out of left field twist at the end. This time around I came away somewhat disappointed. The story stressed me out something fierce, which isn't neceoa bad thing, but I want it to all come together in the end. And with this #audiobook, I didn't even like the ending. Some of the twist I was down for; however, the actual ending itself seemed contrived and irritating. 3.5 ⭐

This was a cute, fun read. Enjoyed the blend of mystery and romance. The romance didn‘t overpower the mystery and the diverse cast of characters were all fully three dimensional and interesting. Although it was a mystery and there were some serious elements in it, it was also cheerful and uplifting. Really liked it.

It was an entertaining easy read, and I enjoyed it. I felt it relied on a lot of cliches and a stereotypical bad-guy husband with no redeeming features. Also a huge fascination with hair... Anyway, lots of small characters who didn't add a lot to the plot, alongside our plucky heroine, who took a lot of slightly implausible risks. Particularly for the finale. I mean, you just would NOT do that. Unnecessary peril. But nevertheless, a good read.

I really liked this one. It is a British police procedural with the added twist of the woman in charge (Kat) being told she has to work with and evaluate an AI assistant (Lock). They are supposed to be working cold cases, but when they get a lead the case becomes active. Her reluctance to use the AI & it's eerie human like presence add both interest and humour. I was happy to see that there is a sequel. Thanks to NetGalley for the digital ARC. 5/5

McFadden does not disappoint again. Erika has the perfect son but she knows something is not so perfect with him. When a local girl goes missing that has ties to her son, Erika is beyond worried that he had something to do with it. Is her son truly evil or is there more to the story than what Erika expected?

I really enjoyed this! I thought it was going to be straight forward for some reason but it was a little twisty! The premise is really clever and a little scary. Felix, the MC, is such a well-drawn character. I don‘t think I‘ve read this author before and after this I‘d definitely read more of her work.

This was my #BookSpinBingo #DoubleSpin for October.

bookandbedandtea I really liked this book and you've reminded me that I wanted to read more from her! 1mo

'The Perfect Son' was a good read. The only thing I didn't like was that there wasn't as much character development as usual. I figured out the mystery a chapter before the reveal.

I was so pleasantly surprised by this book. The premise didn't seem like one I was going to like this much. Now I can't wait for the next book. This one is so good. Jo Callaghan's debut novel is a winner.
Please read the heartfelt Acknowledgments at the ending. Parts sure made me cry. I'm so sorry for her loss. So so sorry.
