So Cute! Harlow (a regular human) moves to a supernatural town & meets woman she likes. But that woman is trying to help her deceased ex (a ghost she accidentally summoned) with her unfinished business. A sapphic romcom + cozy mystery. The world building isn‘t that deep & theres only tidbits from the side characters, but it‘s fun, I‘d read more from the town.

It has gotten really hard to post on Litsy since that last iOS update. Anyway here‘s my #OctoberBookBingo

rachelsbrittain Incredible! Three full bingos and almost three others. Thanks for playing along! 3w

Soft pick. It held my attention (for all it‘s rambling) & I loved Minerva & Chablis. The whole situation was quite strange.

Listened to Magic Tides today, it was a good story to bring back the reader to this world
Kate & Curran are no longer Beast Lord & Consort, trying to live a quiet life but human trafficking, a kraken &old friends call them out of retirement
Kate Daniels series was one I really liked especially because the adventure didn‘t stop just because babies are born, if anything it was more trouble
since I‘m gonna be a mom soon I loved Kate in mama bear mode

My least favorite of hers. I like the world she made but Tana, on top of being immature & boring, was completely inconsistent she starts obtuse & frankly rude but suddenly she‘s adept at reading everyone‘s nuanced expressions & ultra empathetic. I wanted a bigger resolution for the New Coven. Looking forward to the #SundayBuddyRead finale discussion @TheBookHippie

I was hate-reading through the 1st half of the book -cliche plot devices & tropes, it‘s ACOTAR w/werewolves (I hate when people compare everything to SJM, I know she did not invent all things -but Blake is so Rhysand coded, Full Moon Ritual/Calanmai, fairywine/whisky- provoking a big oaf who should be all powerful but sucks at politics) sufficed to say I was not shocked at the outcome but I ended up liking it, it got to a savvy & diabolical reveal

TheSpineView Well done! 4w
Gissy Well, although first part was not good, you convinced me to try it 😄 4w
5feet.of.fury @Gissy once the cliche worldbuilding is done & the characters start interacting it gets good! 4w

Even more action than the first one, & bonds deepen between the characters as Willow learns more about her destiny & starts her journey to be her own maistre. Weirdly heteronormative vampire rules for no reason? Which is very strange when it‘s sex work positive, racially diverse, with mental health & chronic illness rep. But can‘t win ‘em all.

Ultimately I liked the way the mystery came together (such as it did) but some parts were such a drag. Many things don‘t quite add up. Ailsa & Carrie could have run for the hills at any point so even within the broader gothic horror parameters of “things don‘t always add up” …just get out of there 😂

Weird, YA eldritch horror. Finch‘s cluelessness was a bit grating at times, but she navigates her way through her relationships & friendships at a prestigious performing arts school with a hidden horror.
