3✨ I‘m glad I stopped to read the first book. This one I wasn‘t as engaged in, but it still had a lot of adventure. It continued exactly where the first book left off and had “the flaw” which brought them to another world with floppy eared people. It had a multiverse feel to it where we saw people from their home dimension. It wasn‘t bad just not as good as the first book #roll100 @PuddleJumper

Pickpick

4✨This book had some gripping action all throughout. It even started on the first chapter! I found that I didn‘t want to put it down. I think my only complaint would be that I could have used more world building. It wasn‘t difficult to understand, but it focuses on the ability of the “round ears”, battles, and magical objects alone. Not much was mentioned of the surroundings. Overall, I enjoyed this so much. Read so I could read my #roll100 book.

Found out my #Roll100 is the second book in the series… but I‘m loving the first book so far and glad I jumped into it first. 😍

My #bookhaul from my local library's FOTL book sale today. My daughter found her own stack as well. A much needed bibliotherapy run. Found a B&N hardcover edition of The Little Princess and a few Royal Family magazines from the 1980s. All in all, a good haul. 📚 ❤️

And Eternity is another mixed bag. Anthony‘s writing style still irks me. His characters are shallow. He spends more time describing every inch of women‘s bodies than he does on deep storytelling.

I was happy to see that this book mostly held up. It was my favorite when I was a kid and it remains my favorite today. It has its faults but it‘s the most emotionally complex of the bunch.

If there‘s one thing I‘ve learned in my reread of this series, it‘s that I‘m no longer fond of Piers Anthony‘s writing style. As a kid, it was direct and accessible. Now, I find it shallow. This book, like all the others, has the hallmarks of an interesting story that are buried underneath plodding structure and clunky prose. Plus that twist? I don‘t know, I found it a little laughable.

As with the rest of this series, there are hits and misses. Plenty of imaginative stuff, and I appreciated that Mym was from a different cultural background than the rest of the incarnations. Still, Anthony only seemed to focus on Mym‘s “need” for concubines, and all of his female characters remain as flat as cardboard.
