I love it when bad people get what they deserve. I do feel sad when some who aren‘t guilty wind up as collateral damage though. Maddy was a hero, a victim, and a villain depending on who you talked to. She was easy to root for. This story is about identity, not hiding who you truly are, and the sad reality that many people in society will never take accountability for their wrongdoings, instead painting the victim as a villain. 4.5⭐️s!

I didn't expect to enjoy this one as much as I did, much less have it take me back to High School and give me all sorts of emotions like this did.

The overall story was fun! It was so much fun to read about a high school prom, the ups and downs of that age, the changes in relationships, the growing apart and yet forming new relationships, the borderline of being a kid and yet learning to grow still.

An entertaining enough read. I just read Carrie in October so this suffered a little in comparison. It was fine and it kept me engaged. I‘ve probably been generous with my stars as I had a few nitpicks. I‘m glad I borrowed this from the library instead of buying.

Liked it, but not loved it. Maybe because the whole Prom Night Date isn't a thing in Switzerland (or at least wasn't when I went to school), so I couldn't really get the hype about it. But Liz is a great character and Leah Johnson wrote her really good. High potential of identification for younger readers. The message this book sends is great and so, so important! Loved the ending.

Waylon Russell Brewer is a fat, openly gay boy stuck in the small West Texas town of Clover City. His plan is to bide his time until he can graduate, move to Austin with his twin sister, Clementine, and finally go Full Waylon, so that he can live his Julie-the-hills-are-alive-with-the-sound-of-music-Andrews truth.
