Les Miserables: (penguin Classics Deluxe Edition) | Victor Hugo

I finally started on my reread of this novel. I first read it in high school - we got extra credit if we read the unabridged version and I flew through the entire thing on Spring Break. Several years ago, I bought this translation for the cover and then bought a second copy so I wouldn‘t have to flip back and forth to the end notes. 😂 #READLESMIS

Gleefulreader I took it both as that, and that it represented how quickly society leaves the poor and the jailed behind. That society leaves those people behind to drown and suffer. 5d

I am surprised at how much was left out of this version and it was not acknowledged as being abridged. Or maybe the new translation is more explanatory. It surely is significantly more understandable and enjoyable. #readLesMis

DrSabrinaMoldenReads @tpixie It‘s amazing. The newer translation includes all Jean-Valjean‘s emotional struggles early on while this translation leaves that almost all out 4d
