A surprising number of strong contenders for #LetterV in the #alphabetgame but in the end I chose this (fictional) short reply to St Augustine's Confessions by his unnamed girlfriend.

Graywacke Sounds entertaining! 2y

Pickpick

A fictional novella-length letter giving the reactions of Floria, St. Augustine of Hippo's concubine who he abandoned, to his Confessions.

I enjoyed the debunking of the Confessions, and her insistence that God's creation is to be enjoyed, not despised.

Why is that I always seem to read my #doublespin first each month?
This just wasn‘t for me. Maybe I had a bad translation, but I had a hard time tracking the thought process through the book as a whole and at the sentence-level. There is some good stuff in here, but I ended up doing a lot of skimming.

TheAromaofBooks I haven't been able to wrestle my way all the way through this one, so good progress!! 4y

#MarchUnshelving report:

✅Read 50% physical books from my own shelves
❌Donate 15 books (only got rid of 8)

However, the blue titles with pink on the sides - a total of five books - are in the giveaway box, even if they haven't quite made it out of the house, so that brings me much closer!!

Thanks for the inspiration @Clwojick !!!

Clwojick Way to go! 🤍 5y

I love buying used books and imagining where the book has been before it got to me. In this case, I don‘t have to imagine!

Hooked_on_books And you get a cool library card with it! Bonus! 5y

Book 1/15 leaving my house for #MarchUnshelving!! This one just wasn't for me, so it's heading out via Paperback Swap, which if you haven't checked out you totally should!!

Readathon progress: finished a book and halfway through two more. Super busy week so not as much reading time as I want!!

@Clwojick

Clwojick Yeah! You go girl! 🥳 5y
mollyrotondo What is Paperback Swap? Something on Litsy? 5y
TheAromaofBooks @mollyrotondo - no, it's a completely separate thing - paperbackswap.com - basically you list books that you are ready to get rid of. If someone requests one, you send it to them free of charge (and you pay the postage). Every time you send a book, you earn a credit. Then you spend your credit requesting other people's books - which they then send to you for free (they pay postage). You're encouraged to send books media mail, which means they ⬇ 5y

TheAromaofBooks @mollyrotondo (cont'd) - only cost about $3 to mail, so basically you are getting books for around $3 each. You can create a wishlist of books you want, and when someone posts it, PBS will send you an email to give you a chance to request it before it's posted on the general website as well. It's a nice way to trade books especially mysteries, romances - trade paperback types. 5y
mollyrotondo @TheAromaofBooks thank you! I feel like I‘ve stumbled onto this at some point but didn‘t know anyone who used it who could recommend it. Nice way to #unshelf though. I will look more into it! 5y
TheAromaofBooks @mollyrotondo - it isn't a great way to get super new, popular books, but I read a lot of older cozy mysteries, or random Nora Roberts romance, things like that, and can almost always find them. I keep a wishlist of random books I'd like to have and have been amazed at the fact that sometimes I have gotten really nice hardcover books, too! 5y

Re-reading this in its entirety for the first time in 20 years...I can see why 18 yo Julia was so into it 😁

cmastfalk It‘s been at least that long since I‘ve read it too. 5y
