I did enjoy this book for the most part but feel slightly let down by the (lack of) resolution of a certain plot point in the end.
Still ignoring all my part read novels for non fiction on #kindle.

This is the 3rd edition from 2014. Still has plenty of relevance but will be behind the ever increasing curve, given the horrors of Tik Tok shop, Stanley Cup frenzy etc
I read this book years ago (written in 2007). I have pulled it out to re-read it. Anyone who wants to understand how our global economy works & the labor that is used, this is an eye opening book. Especially now that we are entering a new era of backlash against immigration & migrant workers. Many US companies use modern slave labor as their workforce. It‘s easy to turn a blind eye or blame others if we don‘t know the circumstances.
Our enemy is relentless and colossal, but also uncreative and stupid.
Just watched Brats, the documentary on Hulu and this book was mentioned in it. The documentary was interesting and so well done. Now I have to read this because I am a huge fan of those films and the actors that were part of The Brat Pack.

pickI genuinely hated the direction of the storyline after page 100, like you know what's killing these girls but the why or how it works is never answered. I wanted an explanation or answers. I deserved the answers, but I never got them.
Despite my annoyance at this I must confess the writing and characters left me completely enjoying the journey from start to finish
pickIt is hard to convince anyone how empowering the book is as you relay one plot point after another, but it truly is. It had all the frustrations women feel and felt through the ages, wrapped up in a harrowing tale that made me grip the reading chair with worry, gasp in well expressed grief and wallop when battles are hard won.
pickReading Guns made me furious. Furious because I live in a country where it's so easy for things like this to happen, furious because they happen with obscene regularity, furious because we have become numb and inured to it, and furious because our legislators refuse to pass laws that would decrease the likelihood of things like this continuing to happen. Read Guns, and you can be furious too. 5/5
