laytonwoman3rd It's definitive...published in the early '70's. I saw it in the bookstore when it came out, and bought it with grocery money. I thought I was being pretty irresponsible at the time. My only regret now is that I discarded the dust jackets! 7y

I recently revisited this book. From an adult's perspective, I found the motivations of the characters much more understandable than when I was 17. Her writing is fairly easy to comprehend, making this an easy tick mark off of your classics to-read list!

Everything That Rises Must Converge: Stories | Flannery O'Connor

I had the house to myself this morning and I finished these short stories. O'Connor has such an ear for voices that her character's speech pegs them perfectly. Like O'Henry before her, there is often a twist or surprise at the end, but these are much darker than most of the O'Henry stories I have read. #southernwriter #shortstories

rustoryhuf You need to make a trip to Georgia and visit her birth home in Savannah and Andalusia in Milledgeville. My daughter and I went to far to find her grave. Love her writings. 9y

Jess_Read_This @rustoryhuf We went to her childhood home in Savannah last September! We plan on making the trip to Milledgeville this September. She's just fascinating! When the hurricane went through Savannah last Sept, we lost power and entertained ourselves reading her stories aloud via candlelight. It was one of my most memorable vacations in Savannah! 😊 9y
