I don't know why the database lists this book as being written by that Goodman guy. It was written by Una McCormick, an excellent writter, a even better academic and an all around delight. Restarted it three years after first trying it. Covid ate my brain.

“It has long been my custom, before embarking upon a great voyage, to set my affairs in order.“

Bookwomble The Memory Alpha wiki says this about it: "First announced with a October 2018 release date associated with author David A. Goodman, it was later promoted as edited by Una McCormack with a revised release date in September 2021." Amazon still has a secondary association with Goodman, and I guess that's where Litsy has picked up the incorrect info. https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/The_Autobiography_of_Mr._Spock 2mo
tournevis @Bookwomble Good to know, but sad for Una. 2mo
Bookwomble @tournevis True. Litsy, along with StoryGraph, often seems to default to alphabetical ordering of multiple authors regardless of their actual priority. It's annoying! 2mo

tournevis @Bookwomble But it makes mistakes regardless. I entered my latest book myself, placing myself as the main author, and my name starts with an earlier letter than my collaborator, and she still got first billing in the tag. 🤷‍♀️ 2mo
Bookwomble @tournevis Yeah, I've had the same thing happen on books I've added (not written, though! Go you! 🖖😃). It's an annoying system peccadillo. 2mo
tournevis @Bookwomble Also, thanks! 2mo

Started this on the train. Una is a wonderful author (and a very nice person) who always perfectly nails character voices, and she delivers here. Very much enjoying it. Also, I know for a fact that this Goodman guy did virtually nothing on this book. Yet, he gets credit. Grrr.

You know this had to happen.

Branwen This is my FAVORITE picture in the whole book! 😃🖖 4y
GingerAntics @Branwen it has to be, really. It‘s just so perfect. 🖖🏻 That‘s also my new favourite emoji!!! In my reading journal I use the rating system from litsy because it‘s so much easier than figuring out star ratings. Instead of 🤘🏻, I have both of these books 🖖🏻 as a rating. 😂 Maybe that will be the top rating for nerdy books or space books or something from now on 4y
Branwen @GingerAntics I love that idea so much! 🖖💖🖖 4y

My favourite characters are generally these two. Spock just a little more than Scotty, but I do love a good Scot, so he‘s a really close second.

I Am Not Spock | Leonard Nimoy

Pickpick

This is not Leonard Nimoy disavowing Spock. It is just a catchy title of a memoir of how he became the character and how he had to occasionally separate himself from it and not look at the rest of mankind as “humans“ 😂
He highlights his tendency to get bored with the characters that he plays - this is the reason why he was happy that the Star Trek TV show ended after the 3rd year and why he left the Mission Impossible series after 2 years on it.

Smarkies #TIL the Vulcan hand sign was based physical representation of the Hebrew letter “shin”. Nimoy referenced this symbol on the Priestly Blessing performed by Jewish Kohanim with both hands. 4y

1️⃣ Guardian, by Priest. It's Chinese and not in the database. (The series is pretty good so far too)
2️⃣ Science fiction.
3️⃣ The many Star Trek Fotonovels back in February. I've only started reading for fun again in the last couple weeks.

1️⃣ I speak French and English. I can read Italian, Spanish, German and Dutch/Flemmish. Don't ask me to speak those, though.
2️⃣ I don't have one? That's the closest.

The work on the Star Trek Fotonovels is coming along, though slowly, because life and students. But I've decided to take most of my examples from Metamorphosis and All Our Yesterdays, mostly because I can show how each example together demonstrate how the episodes were adapted. I wish I were here reading your posts, though.

CarolynM 👋 Nice to hear from you. Hope you can be back with us more frequently soon🙂 5y
