Author #MindyMcGinnis takes this quote from another (beloved) author and runs with it, in this haunting, tragic teen novel that revolves around what some call ‘rape culture‘. I hate to have those two words put together, but at the center of this book, one girl takes matters into her own hands, and says ENOUGH. It‘s gut-wrenching, brutal, and some won‘t like it,but I LOVED it.

kamoorephoto @TricksyTails Yes!! It‘s it‘s a Hi-Tec C...I love pens too...especially extra fine. I also love fountain pens. The bookmark is actually one someone sent and so appropriate for me; it‘s a Carrie Fisher quote (I‘m a photographer and it couldn‘t fit me better). Yes you must add this book plus Mindy‘s next, #ThisDarknessMine... her writing is haunting. Not for everyone but it‘s brilliant. 7y

I love the 0.28 Uni-ball Signo DX. I've never been able to master the fountain pen but really want to try! I'm definitely adding this book to the TBR. 😁 7y

TricksyTails @Booksnchill Ooh that's a good pen, too. I must've glazed over the description because I don't remember it saying anything about animal abuse. When you read it can you write down the page numbers so I can skip them? 😉 I'm just kidding. I don't think I can handle animal abuse right now so I'll wait to read this. 7y

kamoorephoto @TricksyTails No, it‘s a case of the girl and friend volunteering in an animal shelter and just mentioning how certain dogs and cats come from bad circumstances; believe me, it‘s a hard thing for me to stomach if it was more than that. I volunteer at a rescue so I know the real details in person. There‘s also a teen who works in a factory farm and stun guns a cow, and I‘m a vegetarian so I know plenty enough to gross me out there too. 7y
kamoorephoto This is definitely NOT a book about animal abuse and the protagonist actually talks openly about how animals and humans know the world differently... How she helps animals at the shelter to offset the violence she wages on certain humans because of how they‘ve acted! 7y
