so-soIt‘s a great story. But I wish the later part of the book especially from the street protest till the ending could have the power of conflicts and characters‘ emotional evolvement transformed onto paper in a more powerful way...I like the screenwriting from the movie version better on those parts...

As a 40 year old white Australian, married mother of two I can in no way identify with Starr BUT this story is so well told and I feel captures the characters thoughts and emotions quite well. Correct me if I'm wrong but I feel parts maybe somewhat autobiographical for the author. Quick Easy Read - Believe the hype!!

pickSTOP what you're doing and read this book RIGHT NOW!! This is a Black Lives Matter story, but it's not all violence, & heartbreak, protest. It's a celebration of Black lives, family & community. I couldn't put it down, & I laughed more than I cried.
pickMy first read of 2018! I'm becoming quite the fan of Jacqueline Woodson's work, and in 2018 I want to add more of her novels to my library. I enjoy reading her style of writing!
After Tupac and D Foster is a great novel! I love how Woodson connected the life of Tupac and his music to the growing friendship of three girls in Queens. It was quite the play on fiction! This was a short story but each character was well developed.
I definitely think for me it was The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. That book hit so close to home for me. #thehateugive #thuglife #tupac #books #questions
