Rainy day reading.
Ever dreamed of leaving it all behind? Of packing up your bindle, strapping on your best walking shoes, and hopping on the nearest train to... anywhere but here?
At least now you can read the real stories of the men who actually did it in our freshly restocked Hobo Literature collection.
Ride the rails with the most famous (and infamous) hobos, tramps, and vagabonds in history❗

Balcony and a book after work… hoping to make this a new habit 😌

It is truly heartbreaking what this mother did to this family all for a blog💔
#WomensPrizeNF It‘s obvious Summerscale has done the research and thoroughly explored all aspects of the case, including the time period. Apparently a notorious case in England, these murders of women in the 1950s illuminate the hardships for women and the misogyny that permeated society. The trial and aftermath of the case are explored, and I kept feeling like this took place way longer ago than just the 50s because things have changed so much.
1. Finished the tagged book and liked it way more than I thought I would. Thank you book club!
2. Students are gone, so campus is a lot quieter and bathrooms are a lot cleaner.
3. I made 2 crock pot meals that my husband really liked (I liked them too)!
4. I made a new friend!
5. I helped a new transfer student feel less stressed. Whenever I do this, it feels like an advising win. 💜💛

Fun story where watching movie first led me to this book. In the movie, Frank‘s cons seemed to work because of his charm & luck. The book details his research, lots of research to make his cons work. Frank loved the ladies so some readers may find his sexist word choices & attitudes objectionable. The audiobook version I have does not have an epilogue. It just ends abruptly😮💨 I really wanted details on his career after his cons. ⬇️
Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil isn‘t so much about the murder of Danny Hansford as it is where the crime fits into Savannah society and the people impacted by it. It‘s an interesting way of telling a story, even if it means that the story loses some of the tension and propulsion a reader could rightfully expect from classic true crime. “I will break the cycle…I will trust the children. The child within me and the children I will one day nurture. I will trust in their resilience, their wisdom, their limitless imagination, and their innate capacity for love. I will guide them, but I will also learn from them and will allow their innocence and wonder heal the wounded parts of my soul. Together we will create a new story.”
I have no words. I am so proud of Shari.

Reading very much like a work of Fiction, this brutal account of the Clutter Murders is bone chilling.
Not only is Capote a masterful writer, but his dedication to obtaining all the information needed for this recounting amazes me - especially taking into account the when. No quick Google searches to check facts, or see photos of places. Just feet on the ground investigation.
