4⭐️ Really enjoyed this book. Even though it felt like it dragged in places, the story kept moving forward and I felt like I understood Auntie Em more. #2025 #greatdepression #historicalfiction #1920s #fiction

3.5⭐️ It was a well told story that was very cute to read. My issue was that there wasn‘t a way of really knowing where one was, whether one was in the more contemporary storyline or the flashback. Overall a pretty solid story. #2025 #bookclub #canadian #fiction #wwii #greatdepression

4.5⭐️ Really liked this book despite its horrific history that it deals with. I would have loved to rate this book much higher, if only the author had included an author‘s note at the conclusion of the book. I can guarantee you that most Canadians don‘t really know about the Duplessis Orphans. #2025 #canadianfiction #fiction #quebec #historicalfiction

4.5⭐️ I really didn‘t know what to expect from the book when it was chosen for a #canlit #bookclub I am a part of; in fact, I was a bit wary about it. But I was very surprised by how much I enjoyed the book, despite the heavy topics that the book touches on. #2025 #bookreview #fiction #canadian

4.75⭐️ I really enjoyed this book again, but not as much as I did the first two times . I read it when I was going through a difficult patch and so it didn‘t hit in the same way. It still was a very good read. #2025 #reread #bookclub #canadian #fiction #clifi #historical #contemporary #familysaga

Bookish.SAM I just randomly picked this up from a used bookstore. I‘d never heard of it but pretty happy to see a review 😊 1w

4.75⭐️ I can see why so many readers love this book. I really, really liked this book and I really connected with Martha and her family, especially her husband. Loved the strong sense of history that the book places the reader in and Martha‘s story really helps with that. It was my favourite book for July. #2025 #fiction #biographical #historicalfiction

4.5⭐️ Really liked the pacing in the book, but felt that Izabela‘s story took over too much of the book. I really did enjoy the book and am looking forward to reading the other books in the series. #2025 #fiction #bookreview #historicalfiction #historicalromance #contempoary #romance

4.75⭐️ I really liked the pacing in the book and I really liked the two main characters, Hannah and Mallory; also really liked the side characters. I thought that fans of dual timeline #historicalfiction would enjoy this book. The vibes of the book seemed to be one of female strength and the power of maternal love/instinct. #2025 #fiction #dualtimeline #contemporary #romance
