This RF Caldecott award winning picture book by Chris Raschka would be great for S. This wonderful wordless picture book told beautifully through Raschka‘s illustrations, tells the story of a dog named Daisy and her favorite ball. This book it‘s great for students dealing with the loss of something special. With the help of illustrations, students will explore the joy and sadness that having a special toy can bring.

RossoS Below, I included a very useful resource to go along with this book. It‘s a teaching guide by Penguin Random House, which focuses on how to use wordless picture books in the classroom. The guide includes fun activities and worksheets such as “Story Without Words” where students get to tell their own story without using words. Moreover, by integrating this book to your classroom library and sharing some of the activities with your students 6y

It depicts a young boy doing different naughty things for which he is repeatedly said no. This book it‘s very easy to relate to since we all have heard NO at some point in our life.

This engaging F picture book by Bill Martin Jr. and Eric Carle would be great for S. “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See” tells the story of a colorful group of animals who all see something different. This book could be ideal for young students as they are starting to learn letters, their sounds, and words. It is also a fun way to teach students about colors.

Wishtree is a powerful story about friendship, respect, acceptance and the strength of standing up for what is right, all told from the perspective of a tree named Red. Wishtree is a life changing book that is meant to heal, to teach, to unite. Your students will gain so much from this book!

This book tells the story of a little boy named Max who is angry after being sent to bed without dinner for being mischief. Max manages his strong feelings by going on a journey in his imagination to the land of the “Wild Things”. This book is a must have in your library! It can be used in so many ways 🙌

RossoS By using drama strategies to re-enact scenes from this book you could meet UDL 7.1- optimize individual choice and autonomy, by allowing students to choose a character from the book they would like to perform. Also, you could meet ESOL strategy 2- promote cooperation, by dividing the class in small groups so that students can practice with each other their role. DR is a powerful tool to foster early literacy development in our classrooms! 6y
