Alas, the curse of the sequel strikes again. Where the first was charm and a simple message, this one felt outlandish and frustrating for too much of it. There were charming and silly moments, but a novella geared to a younger reading audience should never feel like it's dragging, and this one did. There also seemed to be less art than the previous book. I'm always hoping for more Jon Klassen work!

2/5⭐ The description is beautiful, but there's no hook and it's slow. Not for me. #roll100

While this was a quick listen, I didn‘t enjoy it as much as I had hoped to… I love the premise of these monster ants uprising against humanity and bestowing a transformation amongst mammals to help enact the war against their owners… but at times the action got a bit muddled & I wanted more character development. The friendship that binds Mort(e) to Sheba is the most redeeming quality here but I‘m only mildly curious about what happens next.

I am posting one book per day from my extensive, and ever growing, TBR shelves. Some are new and some I've had so long I don't remember why I bought them.

Absolutely loving this series. This volume is one story broken into 7 parts. It's an all out war when one of the lords is building a weapon cache to take over his enemies. So not only does Usagi fight him but joins forces with the ninjas and his two other friends. Very sad at the end but losses are to be expected when fighting to save someone's life is involved.
