Pickpick

Book two from the 2025 Stella Prize long list finished. Can‘t recall how this came to be on my radar, but when I saw it recently announced on the longlist I bumped it up.
I really liked it. The first half felt a little bit clunky to me but then it hit its stride and I didn‘t want to put it down. Excellent #queerfic #ozfiction #bildungsroman

Jeg A top read for me so far this year. 4d

Bailedbailed

Very early in the book I realized this is not for me, so DNFing. #hailthebail and another book off my physical tbr.

CoverToCoverGirl I love her BDB series and spin offs but I have purposely avoided this one. So glad I did. 1mo

Mehso-so

The synopsis made it sound much more exciting than it actually is. It felt long and kind of slow.

Book 6 read September 2024

Definitely not the best story, unrealistic in many situations with annoying characters, but for me was entertaining🤷🏽‍♀️Maybe I was in my dark academia mood😂But not a good story so my pick classification is subjective 🤣

I liked how Sarah ended with her mother and so sad what happened with the person who committed the murder 3⭐️This book has low rating so it will be a so-so or pan for many readers.

Pickpick

I read this in fits and starts over the last few months and realized that with a well written classic like this, that you‘ve read as many times as I‘ve read this, there‘s no need to read it straight through to be completely immersed in the story every time you pick it up. You don‘t loose anything.
⬇️

IndoorDame I always wondered at scenes in period literature where someone would just pick up a book and start reading aloud from a random point to everyone in the room. And I think I found some insight into that. How in a world where you only owned a few books, and read them again and again, everyone in your household would know all of them like we know one or two especially cherished stories. 8mo

IndoorDame @dabbe I love these penguin classics deluxe editions! They annoy some people because the line isn‘t uniform in size, but the art is always spot on so I always want them. This is my 4th. They were having a sale on these when I needed to replace my tattered copy of Wuthering Heights and this one may have made its way to me too since I didn‘t have a grab and go paperback copy of JE. #noshelfcontrol 8mo

I‘ve never seen this one make biscuits on a book before! It‘s adorable! It‘s also totally time for him to stop this and find a place to curl up so I can get on with my reading 😂 #catsoflitsy

PuddleJumper ❤️❤️ One of my cats does it when he doesn't want me to read. He'll sit on it and make the kneading motion and stare at me 😂 8mo

Der grne Heinrich | Gottfried Keller

I got a 20+kg packet from my parents. The youngest book in the packet was from 1951. The oldest book - incidentally the only book I actually wanted to have - is from 1890-1, a Ladies' Magazine.

Now I have the fifth book of Goethe's complete works, a book by Gottfried Keller, a family bible (not my family's), a book of maps and a book of remedies. And the aforementioned magazine.

Unsolicited #BookMail
