Wasn‘t expecting the humor but parts of it were funny. Some of the recipes were pretty simple and some took more time and effort. Enjoyed his personal stories and enjoyed this one overall. My husband and I have taken turns making recipes from this one, and he did the buttermilk pie as well. Great results on everything. Great addition to our cookbook collection.

Jemgirl2014 We‘ve been to the Hollywood location a couple of times. It‘s really good BBQ! 2y
SW-T @Jemgirl2014 Never been there but they ship online! Sibling ordered some for a family get together and everyone loved it. His girlfriend used to live in CA and that was her recommended pick. Was happy to see the cookbook come out! 2y

A bit out of season, but liked reading about all the various holiday traditions, dishes, and games celebrated in this cookbook. Enjoyed the avocado, grapefruit and orange salad and the Mexican chili soup. Pacheco used to be the personal physician and cornerman for Muhammad Ali. There were lots of family stories and tales from his career as well.

There are things in here that‘ll be tricky to source and others I‘ll probably never make, but I liked the both the scope and the range of recipes presented. The historical notes were interesting, and the artwork lovely. From cucumber, jicama & mango sticks, to healing green chileatole, to tlacoyos con quelites and quinoa con leche there‘s a huge variety of recipes and skill levels to choose from here.

Definitely a keeper. Lots of inspiration and interesting recipes. Not too complex for a home cook to follow and the ingredients weren‘t too difficult to source. Love the way he mixed different global flavors into familiar items.

I‘m loving this cookbook. So far, the recipes have all been big hits. Between the stories and the recipes, I‘m spending a lot more time baking than I used to. Love it. 🍞🥐🍰🧁🥮

I picked up a few digital cookbooks when they went on sale. Had been wanting to check these out for a while. Excited to dig in! I liked Cravings: Hungry for More and have heard good things about the tagged. 😊

A love letter to food, surviving grief, celebrating friends and family, and using what you have to make something special that doesn‘t require fancy equipment or excessive time. A beautiful book about food, cooking, mental health, and so much more. (Requires some conversions for American readers, but worth it.)

An unexpected charmer! Loved the stories, the photos, and the recipes I‘ve tried so far turned out well and were a big hit. I was expecting just bread recipes, but there‘s so much more: butter, jam, red sauce, black eyed peas, tapenade, pecan pie, poached pears, and more. I can see this becoming a go-to in my kitchen. Definitely a new favorite!

Jess861 How much of the book is bread recipes (approximately of course)? 25% maybe? 4y
SW-T @Jess861 Roughly 80% of the recipes are breads, muffins, bagels, scones, etc. The other ones are things that go well with the breads (like jam for the biscuits). It also covers proofing, scoring, shaping, folding, and mixing tips. It‘s easier to follow than I expected. 4y
Jess861 @SW-T - Oh thanks...I might look into picking this up then :)! 4y

Comprehensive. This is a great resource for anything cultured or fermented. Learn to make your own almond milk, kefir, kimchi, vinegar, shrub, kvass, olives, buttermilk, kombucha, leaven, sourdough, yogurt, tofu, feta cheese, pickles, sauerkraut, and more. Includes tips, recipes, suggested equipment, and a resource guide on where to find the equipment, along with a helpful glossary of terms and ingredients.
