101/150 Reading this is it's own form a mental torture. The story makes absolutely no sense, as it shifts from reality to dreams, from possible futures to forgotten pasts. It's like an H.P. Lovecraft story of cosmic horror, but with more gore, body horror and profanity. 2 ⭐⭐

There was a story within a story and unfortunately that smaller story lost me… too many people dragging around a plot that lost my interest. I‘ve hear good things tho and I think it might be worth another try later on, but for rn it‘s going in my list as a DNF.

Ok, started strong with some big horror elements, but did not expect where we ended up. 3.5 ⭐️ , wish it would‘ve stayed more zombie woman raised from the dead and actually discussed more about The Fisherman. I can see LOTS of cool stories within this story. I hope John writes more. Also this BEGS to be a film adaptation.

Evileyereviews This is one of my favorites from him. You should try his short story collection Sefira and Other Betrayals 10mo

I am writing this under an appreciable mental strain, since by tonight I shall be no more. Penniless, and at the end of my supply of the drug which alone makes life endurable, I can bear the torture no longer; and shall cast myself from this garret window into the squalid street below.

This time—decent.

After the absolute disaster that was the previous volume, I was afraid I was making a mistake picking up the third one. Still, call it OCD tendencies or whatnot, I couldn‘t just leave the series unfinished like that. I‘m glad I didn‘t. It was more similar to the first book (which I liked), and closure feels nice, too.

Low pick.

Too convoluted to handle, more even than Alice Through the Looking-Glass (not a fan, sorry), which it constantly references. Made mostly of dialogue—a bunch of talking heads, vomiting random words (some of them in French, with no translation to be had), for some 200 pages...

Waited for it to become comprehensible.

It didn‘t.

What a disappointment.

1.0/5

eol The score is so low probably because I‘m still angry about it. Because I liked the first volume (which fortunately works as a standalone, so at least there‘s that). 13mo
