Friday night book & beer. I fell totally in love with Huldufólk, an Icelandic-style ale brewed with foraged herbs, when I visited the brewery‘s taproom. Earlier this week I made it to the only Liquor Mart that sells it canned, and tonight I drank the last of it. (Previous can also pictured to show you the full design.) What a great beer.

I‘m also loving these final ElfQuest issues, which have so much to say about change vs stasis.

Supper + ElfQuest. Unfortunately, this barbecue ranch salad bag had too many large, oniony green onions in it, so I didn‘t enjoy it much. At least the comic‘s still good. #deweyapril #readathon

Yesterday I thrifted a lovely little tea set with its own padded carrying case for secure travel. Today I took part of it outside and drank my favourite genmaicha while I continued my big ElfQuest reread.

I took a much longer bike ride this afternoon, with a stopover for another free coffee and another chunk of Elfquest. It‘s been ten years since I last read it and y‘all? It holds up.

Exactly a year ago, Kobo gave me a free VIP membership. It entitled me to 10% off a bunch of stuff and also came with two free books (from a particular pool), which I dithered over until just this week.

Then they sent me some coupons, and there were good sales on top of that, and I was like, okay, gotta milk this thing while I still have that 10% discount.

TL;DR: my TBR jumped from 5 books to 15 in no time. That‘s a huge haul for me these days.

I wanted to join this spin-off of the original 7 days of covers because I love graphic novels. Elfquest was my first comic love. I re-read this series so much as a child, and I still have all my original graphic novels and comics. Plus, a signed post-it from Richard Pini.

Starting the new year off quite poorly when it comes to books, I can‘t seem to concentrate on anything I try to read lately. Going back to comfort reading until that gets better.

I guess I fulfilled some dreams today. I get it, it‘s nerdy, no one cares, but I met Wendy and Richard Pini today, got them to sign some of my graphic novels and commissioned a beautiful Skywise from Wendy. Elfquest started me on my comic appreciation when I was a kid so I‘m ecstatic and can mark that one off my bucket list. *glow*
