This is a ya book, but there is so much in here I didn‘t know before. Like high fives were the accidental invention of an American gay baseball player Glenn Burke.

IriDas Glenn Burke.!!!!! 💖 💖 💖 As a Dodgers fan, that name always evokes bittersweet feelings. 4w

The information is organized in a logical way. It lacks the inspirational tone I expected. It feels more like a check list.

This is somewhat outdated because it was published before the Gates‘ divorce, Melinda isn‘t running the foundation anymore but has her own.
Still interesting though. Gates narrates the audiobook. She talks about women‘s issues, how her foundation is trying to solve problems globally (like birth control to help with family planning), & tells some of her personal stories. Liked hearing about the work she does to give people more opportunities. 👇

Scochrane26 Makes me wonder how she feels and what she is doing about the current situations. At least she is using a portion of her money to help people. 4mo

I was fairly indifferent to the work of the Gates‘ Foundation but now I have a new found respect and admiration for Melinda French Gates. I can‘t wait to se what else she does.

A beautiful rendering of the journey of the first woman to complete the Appalachian Trail hike when she was 67 years old!

This is a powerful coming of age novel written in prose. It includes so much, but it all fits. It's about being Afro- European, about domestic violence, about being queer. I learned so much from reading this book and even after finishing it a couple of days ago, I'm still deeply impressed.
