Just started this today taking a break from my #newyearwhodis reads.
Has anyone read it?
What do you think it?
I'm loving learning about the people leading the matches and the organizers. I'm also loving learning about all the causes and ways I can be involved.

I thought dreamed up this book. But it‘s real and has stuck with me for 25ish years. I really liked the combo of feminist commentary and chronicle of the tween books from the 80‘s and I can‘t believe how many of them I read 😂. The angst, the agony!

8little_paws This looks interesting, and it's a humor book? Maybe I read it for #readharder humor book in 2019! 6y
EKonrad Loved this read! 😊 6y
lisakoby @8little_paws It‘s funny but more non fiction - could be a cross category read... 6y

Day 10 #adventrecommend #FeministRead

Set in 1899, this story follows Edna as she discovers herself while struggling with her role of being a wife & mother. It focuses societal expectations of women & being trapped in those roles. There is infidelity in this story & Edna comes off as selfish as a result of her struggle with her role in society & her depression.

I think this is an incredibly important #feministread especially for young girls who are scared to be labelled feminist. It's an eye opener to the insidiousness of #rapeculture.

All that being said, it was extremely dark and I didn't love every decision the author made.

This book is set in the 1850s in Ireland. Lib, an English nurse (trained by F. Nightingale), is hired for a two weeks stint to observe 11 years old Anna, who is supposed to have not eaten for 4 months already. Is it a fraud or a real wonder? Dealing with religion, misogynie, prejudices etc. the novel is first and foremost a real page-turner with some wonderful writing. The love story was not nessecary, but I didn't mind it too much.

A prose poetry collection where the convention "it's a man's world" is turned on its head. Women are in the work force and all political offices. Men are beautiful objects that are expected to support their wives.

Beautiful language, feminist prose and funny satire! What else do you need? #poetry #FeministRead
