Ugly Love: A Novel | Colleen Hoover
post image
Mehso-so

Falling somewhere between a so-so and a pick for me, this #audiobook had a couple of decent narrators. The guy who read for Myles sounded so familiar and/or reminded me of someone, but I haven't a clue who. I think it's going to bug me for a bit. 😝

Enthrall was a very good read. I loved the storyline and the characters in the book. I wanted more BDSM scenes though, and the love scenes between Richard and Mia were subpar. But I guess since this is book one, the author has decided to treat this novel as an introduction to what is expected in book 2.

The 3rd of this trilogy finds Hervey married to Nicholas but about to have a serious operation. The bk then covers the 9 days of the 1926 general strike, + the characters are polarised btwn avid support of the cause + entrenched self-interest. What is interesting is how scared of revolution society was at a time when ww1 still impacts on lives + poverty is rife. A fascinating period, + good series. And the life of the writer is wortha bk itself ⬇️

andrew61 Just a mention of the choices virago made for the art on their covers . Here 3 wonderful Edward Hopper images captured the dark emotion of the characters. 1mo

psalva I did some research on Tagore at university for a literary criticism class and found his work to be really subtle, sprinkled with internal conflict in interesting ways. I‘m really just familiar with his poems. I‘m curious to see how his novels are. Definitely an author I don‘t see talked about much. 3mo

I want you on birth control right now he says after she watches her abusive father die
That sums it up
But also super cute yet heartbreaking romance, I loved the character development

It follows Twilight, but told in the point of view of Edward.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I surprisingly really enjoyed this one. It was better than Bella‘s POV. I loved the connection Edward and Alice shared, and how they communicated through their special abilities. It included some cool details, but also a couple boring scenes the book could‘ve done without. If you like Twilight, I would definitely recommend.
