Guess I know what the next few months of reading will be!!! ❤️ So excited to be a first time mom, but also terrified. I've only read a few pages of this and it's making me feel better and empowered already. #firsttimemommy #futurelitsybaby #futurereader #babybook #slightlyterrifired

The struggle is real! I have only read 3 books so far this year. I‘ve started several others but can‘t seem to get into anything. I‘m just so tired.

On the plus side the reason I‘m so tired is that we are expecting a baby in August!!! We are so excited!!
🥰 🤰🏻🤱🏻🍼🧸❤️😍
Anyone else out there struggle with reading when pregnant? Any book recommendations welcome!
#futurereader

mcipher I was so exhausted when I was newly pregnant but it‘s easier after the first trimester! Hang in there, it gets better. 😊 6y
DivineDiana Congratulations! 👏🏻🎉👶🏼 (edited) 6y
Amiable I struggled more with reading AFTER pregnancy. Because my oldest son never slept and I was exhausted trying to keep up with him. 😀 Congratulations! 6y

Areader2 Congratulations I am expecting my second grandson in August 18!your making a new little life that‘s exhausting rest and read short stories! 6y
MelissaSue81 I‘m with you on the reading slump (no baby for me though!!) congratulations!! 6y
julesG Congratulations! 6y
tjwill Congratulations! 🎉When I was pregnant with my son, I would come home from work and go straight to bed and sleep all night. I was exhausted the whole first trimester with him! 6y
JennyM Congrats! Go easy on yourself...growing a human is tiring! The books will be there when you are ready to jump back in 😘 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa Congratulations! And no pregnant suggestions, but maybe an audiobook when driving, cleaning, setting up baby stuff instead of reading? 6y
ravenlee Congratulations! I did better with magazines, short stories, and books that had free-standing chapters during pregnancy and in the first few years of motherhood. As I was feeling ready to reestablish real reading I happened upon Litsy and it‘s been awesome! 6y
Blaire I was good while pregnant but on maternity leave I went light light light - read all of the sookie stackhouse books, hunger games, jack reacher. 6y
Chelsea.Poole Congratulations!!! 🥰 When I became pregnant with my first son, I was consumed with thoughts of motherhood and raising a baby. I read any motherhood/baby books I could get my hands on!! I couldn't read my regular genres. I'll tag a few of the books I remember enjoying 😊 6y
Chelsea.Poole I read this after both pregnancies, but found it so relatable! 6y
CouronneDhiver Oh gosh, well, put your feet up and never mind this slump. You‘re busy growing a life! 😘😘 The books will be right there when you‘re good and ready 6y
GripLitGrl Congratulations!!💞💞 6y
Purrfectpages That‘s the perfect reason to be in a slump. Congrats! 6y

Thanks for the congrats and reading tips! 🥰 6y
Chasing_Pages @Chelsea.Poole Thanks so much for all the suggestions. I will be looking them all up for sure! 6y

Ghosts | Raina Telgemeier

Quick stop on our way to lacrosse practice and I look back and see this cutie engrossed in his reading! He still prefers graphic novels to traditional, but that's okay because they're the gateway drug to life-long reading. #FutureReader

Melissa_J My daughter only reads graphic novels at this point, and Raina Telgemier is her favourite 😊 7y
AndreaReads @Melissa_J I keep wanting to tell him he needs to read other books (but I wonder if that's just the English teacher in me). He really likes them, and they build his reading confidence. I've read Raina Telfemier's Smile and loved it, and this one is on my TBR. 7y
Jen_Reads I really liked Ghosts. There's an episode of the show Girl Meets World where the English teacher uses a Batman graphic novel to teach the class. 7y

damyantig Graphic novels are awesome. They have a huge variety, and some are literary. I loved Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi 7y
Melissa_J @AndreaReads the more I try to encourage my daughter to pick up other books the more she rebels against it. So I no longer try and hope she'll learn to love non-graphic novels on her own. She will read non-fiction, which is a good thing, but actual novels she wants nothing to do with. 7y
AndreaReads @Melissa_J Same. I also try to do that with my students. I don't want reading to become a chore, and I'm afraid that if I tell what they can't read, then it becomes work. @Jen_Reads @damyantig I definitely think there are some incredible graphic novels, and I've used them in my teaching, but for whatever reason I sometimes struggle when he doesn't want to read anything else. I'm getting over it, though. 😉 7y
damyantig @AndreaReads the fact that he's reading is a blessing. I'm often invited to teach at workshops where they kids say they don't like to read. Just get him whatever he reads, and let things take care of themselves. I started with graphic novels myself, and was soon reading everything from Checkov to Whitman to Shakespeare 😂 7y
Izai.Amorim I'd upgrade him to #presentreader! He's doing alright! 7y
AndreaReads @Izai.Amorim You're right! I think I've just used that hashtag with him for so long it's become habit. My baby is not a baby anymore! 7y
JaclynW My daughter enjoyed this book too! 7y

Today is a very special day! My sweet child decided (on his own) that he wanted to read Harry Potter! I've been very careful not to push my favorite books on him and to let him choose what he wants to read. I'm so excited to read this series again and to see it through his eyes! #FutureReader #HarryPotterLove
