I can't believe it's almost time for the May #BookSpin draw! New to the list this month are the tagged and Red Mars. I'm still a little bit behind on my challenge reads but hopefully I'll make more progress soon.

“There is no peace for a woman with ambition. No love for a woman with a crown. She loves too much is lustful. Her power is too strong she is ruthless. She fights for vengeance she is mad. Kings are brilliant mighty godlike. Queens are deadly shameless accursed.”
Sums up the book.
1✨ There is something in me that really wants to like mythology, but I constantly just can‘t seem to be engaged. I enjoyed some of this book, but I wasn‘t able to get my head around all the characters. To the give away pile it goes.
Got these two new books today! I just can't stop buying new books, even though I read slow and have way more books than I've read. I really do wanna get around to these soon, so we'll see when that happens.
The writing is good, Saint connected a multitude of Hera myths in a cohesive way, the set up shows Hera‘s notorious wrath as a form of reactive abuse & that invoked empathy, but ultimately Hera‘s ire was repeatedly misdirected & I just couldn‘t relate to the redemption Saint was conveying for the goddess of marriage.
Percy Jackson finds the Garden of the Hesperides in San Francisco.
He's not very bright, our Perce, is he?
PHOTO CONTAINS MINOR SPOILERS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If there were more stars in the regular system, I would've used them. This book ripped my heart out, stuffed it with emotions, and shoved it back in. I'm so sad to be leaving this series but so satisfied with the ending. I've developed such a strong attachment to these characters and this story, I know it will stay a favorite of mine for a long time.
I don't know mythology very well and all I knew about Hippolyta and the Amazonians was from Wonder Woman. This novelization was good - lots of drama and action.
I adore Natalie Haynes‘ stand-up routines, which make Greek and Roman myths accessible and relevant to the modern world. I don‘t feel her style translate as well into book form, but this is still an interesting introduction to a selection of Greek goddesses, and her comparison of Artemis with Katniss from the Hunger Games has made me intrigued to read the latter.
