Book 3 in this series, Petra looks for a man gone missing from a cohort of unlikeable Americans who have returned to #Greenland for mysterious reasons. Petra is put in peril this time and the shaman isn‘t here to help. Unfortunately, the “motives” are complex and convoluted. I got the general idea, but I couldn‘t connect the dots. It‘s still a pick, but lesser so than prior novellas. #foodandlit @Catsandbooks #serieslove @TheSpineView @Andrew65

Shaman Tuukula and his little daughter Luui help Constable Petra look for a missing girl whose cleft palate helps her talk to ravens but makes her the subject of school bullies. The girl‘s father hates ravens and takes the blame for the girl going missing. This is Petra‘s second foray on the missing persons desk in Nuuk, #Greenland, and it‘s another satisfying story in the series. #serieslove @TheSpineView @Andrew65 #foodandlit @Catsandbooks

A year ago a boy on the northern western coast of #Greenland disappeared. When new constable Petra answers her first phone call, she finds she‘s become the missing persons department at Nuuk. With the help of an elderly shaman and his young daughter, Petra follows the leads to find the boy—the first hint being that he took a narwhal‘s rare double tooth and may be trying to sell it. An excellent start to this series. #foodandlit @Catsandbooks

PaperbackPirate Lol from the title I was picturing a kid with one giant tooth coming out of his mouth. 😂 I‘m glad you liked it! 🦄 1d

In the metaverse with countless versions of earth there happens to be one populated by kaiju—yes, those monstrosities of movie fame. Our earth has found a means to set up a base there to study and protect the kaiju. This is the story of some newbies on that Canadian base via #Greenland. The story is fun, often hilarious, and not without its bad guys who need putting in their place. Loved it! Perfect vacation read. #authoramonth #foodandlit

This is an excellent YA sci-fi speculative fiction story. A family camps in #Greenland so the father can study climate change while the mother writes about mitochondrial DNA while son explores the land. But nothing is as it seems and it all unravels when the son discovers a colony of people living underground for generations, who will lose their home as the climate warms. Told from two perspectives of the above- and below-world, I enjoyed the ⬇️

I finished both of these books last night. Vacation has been a very productive reading time! I‘m now trying to catch up on long overdue book reviews.

In 1910-12, the author Ejnar and a boat mechanic Iver sledge along the west coast of #Greenland looking for notes from previous Danes whose exploration ended in their 3 deaths. Ejnar and Iver brave the coast for well more than a year trying to get back to their ship. They are good partners for this task who have one spat in all this time, over an imaginary girl. It‘s a brutal survival story with an excellent epilogue about how the author ⬇️

Texreader witnessed the militarization of the country during WWII and its population growth. He had thought the land untameable and would remain so forever. This is an excellent read, with short chapters to keep the dread for these men and their dogs under control. Beware the dogs do not survive well.

If you‘re wondering what Greenlanders eat…. I think I may skip the food portion of this month…

Butterfinger It looks like hot potato salad for you, too. Haha. It's cool, though, that they have been eating the same way since "discovering" Greenland. 3d
Texreader @Butterfinger Right! 😁 Do you have a recipe you can send me? 3d
Bookwormjillk There was a scene where they ate toast and eggs with mushrooms in The Boy With A Narwhal Tooth and I think that‘s about all I‘ll manage this month. 3d
Bookworm54 I was planning on using this one (which I think is the same recipe I have seen someone else post) for fish casserole and hot potato salad. I have been waiting for my house/outside to cool down before attempting any stove top cooking 🤣 https://worldcookproject.com/2017/07/15/greenland/ 2d
