It‘s been a whirlwind of a weekend. My husband has been in Florida for 3 days and my panic disorder has been in full swing. I‘m finally calm enough to enjoy reading, so I‘m taking full advantage of this quiet morning and reminding myself that, through it all, I‘m still a good mom, even when I have to push past the panic to love on my kiddos.

Happy reading to all on holiday, today! I hope it will be peaceful and enriching.

saresmoore @TrishB Too true! I think, now that my kids are halfway to adulthood, they appreciate getting to see my human side. I just have to remember that it‘s a good thing. Thank you. ♥️ 5y

saresmoore @MicheleinPhilly I‘ve no doubt you are capable of rising to any occasion. Teeth chattering nausea + certainty of imminent death is just brutal, whether in the company of minors or alone! ♥️ Lucy was appalled when she offered me chocolate and I politely declined. “Not even chocolate helps?!” #harshtruths 5y
AmyG Feel better. I have this mediation tape that i listen to when I panic...sometimes makes me feel better. Hope all has passed. And yes, it‘s important to let your children see you are a human being...not perfect as none of us are. It‘s truth and It allows them to feel and be human themselves. 5y

ShyBookOwl @saresmoore just recognizing that I'm creating the spiral and telling myself I'll get through it as I have before is a big help. It doesn't stop it, but it keeps me somewhat grounded throughout. Unfortunately, I still have a ways to go before I can feel in control of it. Only beginning to seek help recently. How about you? 5y

saresmoore @ShyBookOwl That is so good! I‘ve been practicing a lot of cognitive behavioral therapy techniques for a long time. The complications of many phobias cloud my awareness sometimes. I‘ve managed & coped for over 15 years, but am recognizing that it‘s time to find a good therapist and banish this shit forever! Ha! Best wishes for your journey to health. ♥️ 5y

My mom also has it and reminds me that it‘s no different than a physical ailment, nothing to be ashamed of, and a perfectly acceptable reason to take a break or back out of commitments, if needed. Just remembering that I‘m not a solitary freak of nature is a huge help! 🙃♥️ 5y
Tamra @saresmoore definitely not! We all carry our challenges with us. Isn‘t it funny how in clear moments I can unequivocally say my fear or anxiety is irrational or overblown, but in the moment that is lost or not entirely helpful. The mind is a weird thing, like it highjacks itself. 🤨 Being a parent brings out the worst for worries on many levels. But it is something of a comfort knowing it‘s very typical! 5y

saresmoore @ShyBookOwl All books surely have their flaws, but I‘ve found Brené Brown‘s The Gifts of Imperfection (I‘m a total perfectionist) and the tagged book to be helpful. 5y
