Another intriguing and confusing addition to the series. Confusing, in a good way, as you're never sure what will happen next. Lots of character development for Lynly and Havers as well.

My #bookhaul from the library today.
Do I have 4 books I'm in the middle of? Yes.
Do I have 2 successive books to read afterwards? Also, yes.
Do I regret bringing home another stack? Absolutely not. 😂

A good installment in the Lynley and Havers mystery series. This one takes place at the University of Cambridge, where a deaf student is murdered while out on her morning run.

A comfort re-read from years ago. Some of George‘s older books will feel a bit dated because although they seem to be set in the late 80s/early 90s, they often can feel much more dated than that based on the language and mannerisms she gives her main characters. That said I still enjoy the journey of these longer reads (even if I do want to tell Deborah to stop being such an insufferable sulky pants.)

dabbe “insufferable sulky pants“ ... 🤣🤣🤣 Totally agree! 8mo

Nostalgia led me to reread both Inspectors Lynley & Gamache this month. Read them as each was published so I forgot enough to enjoy the process.

This is #3 in the Lynley Havers series. These two kept me company while with my husband in the hospital. He came home late yesterday after 4 days of fighting a massive kidney/bladder infection. I am glad this is my vacation week so I can be with him. #checkin #awesomeapril #readathon

Payment in Blood | Elizabeth George

The Black House is set in the Outer Herbrides. A Payment in Blood, though set in England for the most part, ends off its coast in Skye. As seen in the map, Skye is south central & parallel to the Herbrides. #thingsincommon

Clwojick Great match! Well done 👍 12mo
