42 percent of my students are from Mexico. Many are migrant workers and live in Mexico part of the year. We have a Migrant school in the summer for kids in K-8th grade so they do not fall behind. My kids either do just Michigan/Mexico or Michigan/Texas/Mexico. That being said -I‘m immersed in Mexico daily. I‘ve read thousands of books and learned a ton of the culture. Here is my stack I have more books coming . I‘ll try to post in comments titles.

Butterfinger I read Yo Soy Muslim last year and loved it. Those books for multiethnic families are so important. I'm interested in My Two Border Towns and reading about the migrant families you serve reminded me of Pam Muñoz Ryan's Esperanza Rising. That would be great for @Chrissyreadit if you haven't already read it. It might be a good time to reread it with Chaya. 2y

TheBookHippie @Butterfinger Most of my students are US Citizens 99 percent. Their parents are not... ICE does raid up here and during the last administration it was so horrific there are no words........ 2y
