While there are a couple of dark moments, for the most part, this is a lovely little romp, perfect for the Great British Bakeoff fan. I did find it difficult to reconcile how Alain's character shifted but maybe that's just how dudes are :P

Prairiegirl_reading I loved this and also I could not put into words how it‘s funny and light and also there is a scene that is really sexual assault. That just doesn‘t compute in my brain and yet I still loved it. The third instalment of this series comes out later this year and I‘m really looking forward to it. 4w

janeycanuck @Prairiegirl_reading there was a content warning in the front of my copy so I knew that was coming. Is the second one and the same vein? I‘ve gone back and forth on picking it up. I find when it‘s the setting that‘s the same and not the characters, you can end up with something totally different 3w

Prairiegirl_reading @janeycanuck I must have missed the content warning! The second book is the same structure with the baking show but different characters and the main character has anxiety. I know some people found him annoying but I personally connected with his anxiety. It‘s not as good as this one but I still liked it. 3w
