I know going into it that this type of romantic suspense is going to need me to gloss over a lot of ?!?!?! moments to make it work, but this book was really pushing the limits haha Pretty ridiculous on the whole, but sometimes that's what you need. A long while back someone gave me a box of random thrillers/romantic suspense, and this was one of them. Mildly entertaining, but off to a new home now.

A little late with my weekend readathon plans, because I was offline yesterday and forgot to post on Thursday haha I got a lot of reading in yesterday and am almost finished with the tagged book. Hoping to get through at least two more books by the end of Monday - it's looking like a chill weekend so it's pretty doable as long as I don't get toooo sucked into playing Stardew Valley 😂

I can't tell you how many times I've reread this one.

I have a ratty ex-library copy that I deleted out of the system the last time I requested the book.

Today's #aboutabook is with a mystery which makes me think of books I've enjoyed that have had a side of mystery. Like this one-romance with a side of mystery.

Pickpick

I loved this one even more than the first book. We met John briefly in the first book so I was looking forward to his story. I did not love him as much as Marc from the first book but I enjoyed the overall plot much more. These books are a little dated, not that it bothered me. But in this one especially it showed the first time John and Niema have sex, with consent being dubious. Though not anything like ye olde bodice rippers were.

I wasn't sure I would like this initially. I liked Karen, I loved Marc (he‘s delicious!) but when the narrative was focused on other characters, namely all the shady criminal characters, the story seemed to slow down and was less engaging. Plus I had a little trouble keeping all those guys straight. But the last quarter more than made up for that. Now I‘m reading the next book in the series and very much liking it. I need to find the third book

Usually like her books but this one, while I enjoyed the premise, felt a little forced to me in the romance department. But it‘s a book I can get off my ohysical shelves and into a donation box. #ReadAway2024 @Andrew65 @DieAReader @GHABI4ROSES

DieAReader 👋🏻👋🏻Off the shelf, even better! 10mo
CocoReads @DieAReader I tend to read and keep but it‘s just not feasible. I‘m unlikely to reread most of my books so I‘m trying to just keep my very faborite ones, favorite series, sentimental ones from my childhood, etc. 10mo
DieAReader @CocoReads Makes sense. I have way too many to read & keep. I‘m not much of a re-reader so that shelf is pretty small lol 10mo
CocoReads Same, when we moved I swore I‘d be better but I still have a garage full of books and not enough room on the shelves. So I‘m trying to work harder on my physical tbr this year 10mo
Andrew65 Well done 👏👏👏 Always good to clear a space. 10mo

I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!) Feel free to join in!
