These days, a gentle poem in the morning is just what I need. 🍃 Mary Oliver is just right.

Do you also hurry, half-dressed and barefoot, into the garden,
and softly,
and exclaiming of their dearness,
fill your arms with the white and pink flowers,
with their honeyed heaviness, their lush trembling,
their eagerness
to be wild and perfect for a moment, before they are
nothing, forever?
—from Peonies by Mary Oliver

I think this is
the prettiest world—so long as you don‘t mind
a little dying

A breath of fresh air taken in during a quiet walk in the woods. My devotion to nature does not stretch to eating pinecones found in bear scat, but on balance, I empathize with Mary Oliver's worshipful approach to her subject matter, and am invigorated by it.

"Take your busy heart...also to the forest./The song you heard singing in the leaf when you/were a child/is singing still./I am of years lived, so far, seventy-four,/and the leaf is singing still."
