I was so glad that I was reading the last half of this in the safety of my house because this book had me feeling so many emotions! If you‘re a sucker for strong female leads that overcame insane obstacles, this book is for you. #nonfiction #feminism #safiyasinclair #motivational #memoir

4/5⭐ I was hoping the entries would be more focused on the craft, the how, of writing. Instead they're all motivational stories, the why of writing. Which is fine and well done, just not what I was looking for, so I skipped most of them. The quotes and comics peppered throughout are a nice touch. #roll100

I‘ve been reading the scrolls for 4 months almost everyday now and it‘s crazy to see how quickly life can start changing when you take control.

Sadly none of the five facilities he ended up serving his 9 year sentence in had any sort of rehabilitation programs. He was left on his own to maintain his sanity while also becoming an adult. Fortunately he had books that helped along the way though they were only part of his journey. After his release he attended Yale and becomes the founder of the FreedomReads.org program. This was very well written and enlightening. I highly recommend.

"And the thing was, the victims race was the whole point of the story. White cop, white victim. It didn't matter if the gun, the fear, the robbery didn't resolve the oppression that was felt as much as that we were passing on to each other a warped way of dealing with anger that we didn't know we had."

5✨ If you have ever felt like you just can‘t win. Everything is going wrong and you have hit rock bottom, this book is for you. David is one of these people that just can‘t catch a break. His family is suffering and he is feeling worse and worse. Then he is given the gift to travel through “time/dimension” to learn 7 things that can make his life better. I feel like this book was speaking directly to me. It was amazing! #Roll100 October
