ずいぶん重いけど、何が入ってるんだろ?石とか ?

Monniebiloney Whenever you have to carry someone else's bag, one must always say
“ずいぶん重いけど、何が入ってるんだろ?石とか ?“
[This is quite heavy, does it have rocks in it?]

I originally thought that this book was gonna be pretty easy to read, but after giving it a short break, and broadening my horizons, I have changed my opinion. It's kind of hard. The hardest part is the spacing of the words. I'm currently reading the full-furigana-split into two parts- version of this book, and the way it thinks kanji is scary makes it kind of hard to read. I'm curious how the hardback, semi-furigana version compares #nihongo

The toddler's new favorite bedtime expression is "one more book!" which is also one of his longest phrases so of course I'm chuffed and feel like we're related ? this is his stack this evening minus one he snatched off the top when I tried to get a photo. I'm so happy he'll finally sit for whole story books ?and all this on a day he's quite sick ? #babyreads #picturebooks #boardbooks #transportation #nihongo #japan

Of course the day I decide I should just read books that already live in my house for awhile, we join a new library and come home with as many books as the stroller can carry 😂 this one had even more in English, especially translations by Japanese authors. I had no idea Kitano Takeshi (Boy) wrote books as well 😍 #mommyreads #babyreads #Japan #nihongo #boardbooks #picturebooks

This is the first day in a very long while that we've stayed home all day, and the toddler used the opportunity to show off how much he loves books. These are all the books he read, brought me to read him, and reread again throughout the day. Serious vehicle love 😂 he has my husband's face so it's nice when i recognize he got something from me 😜#babyreads #boardbooks #transportation #trains #nihongo

This was quite different from the other Little Daruma book I've read with Kameari. Little Rabbits had Daruma and his sister building snow men, meeting rabbits, and inviting them to tea. But the main point seems to be teaching how to make rabbits out of various materials -- like these mittens and matchsticks 😂 so kind of a craft book? Cute though! #mommyreads #babyreads #nihongo #picturebook #Japan #crafts

Me today: oh my gahh i have so much to do and no time to do it!! whoa the toddler is asleep, let's have another cup of coffee and read a chapter. Or two. They're totally short.

Also he just got the Japanese bus and bus book and is in his bus happy place 😂

This is the first manga I've read completely in Japanese (thank goodness they provided kanji reading 😅). It took awhile to snag me but it's quite cute: episodic chapters about a young girl and her dad who move to a new town and have humorous encounters with the family of girls living next door. It's fun reading the childish word play and actually getting the joke in Japanese 😂 #mommyreads #manga #nihongo

Cute Japanese folktale about daruma (good luck doll) and the god of thunder and lightening. Super imaginative setting. I'm excited that these have been translated into English. Toddler's not quite ready. #mommyreads #picturebook #nihongo

Not for me! I appreciate the whole Japanese Dorian Gray thing but the philosophical musings on religion, eroticism, and violence as a pleasure source alternated between yawn and yick. Assault against a minor, historical figures famous for infanticide and torturing kids? No, thank you. I'd been eyeing Silence by the same author but think I'll pass now. #mommyreads #nihongo
